The three newspapers which I read or browsed today all contained semi-naked photos of that Potter boy. What's worse is that one photo actually made me linger for a longer look (heh, linger longer). I like manly men, most of them over forty, so why the hell did I look at that photo for more than a moment? The lad's practically jailbait. Ok, he's legal, but only barely. I will admit that he's maturing quite well.
*ahem*
Fortunately one paper also had a photo of someone who's much more my cup of tea (and a foe of said mini-wizard). Sadly, Luscious Malfoy was not semi-naked. He is, however, like the boy who will soon be even more deserving of the nickname Horseboy than Karl Urban, to be appearing in the West End.
There are lots of things on in the West End that I want to see, which makes me wish I was living up in London, but I know that if I did live up there I'd just squander money I didn't have taking myself off to the theatre every weekend. While down here, I can use the excuse that the cost of theatre tickets plus the travel to get there is excessive. I want to see Patrick Stewart in Anthony and Cleopatra, because I like a bit of Shakespeare but have never actually seen an RSC production - and because it's Captain Chrome Dome thesping. Add the £20 it costs to get to London to the tickets and it's just far more than I can afford. Hell, everything's more than I can afford right now.
On that subject, actually, Operation Sort Out Finances has just begun. I went to the HSBC on my lunch break and applied for a new credit card, with 0% interest on all balance transfers until April 2008. I've been paying stupid amounts of interest, but now I can transfer over all my outstanding balances (yes, I have three credit card balances, ranging from about £100 up to nearly £750) and not worry about interest for a year, just paying them off as slowly as I like. There was the fun of the credit check. I hadn't had one in a few years and I think I actually held my breath, waiting for the nice lady to tell me that they weren't giving the likes of me credit, but they actually gave me a nice amount (higher than the newly raised (unrequested) limit on my card with the big balance.
So, that's step one. Step two is getting a better job - as in one which pays better than the crap I get here and where I don't want to kill some of my colleagues. I've found one advertised which has potential, so I'll be sorting out my CV tonight and emailing that off.
Once I have a better job and my finances are sorted maybe I can afford to go up to Town for the theatre, to see starship-commanding mutants, Pinter-spouting Deatheaters and even nude, horse-fancying wizardlets.
ETA:
bossythecow has very cruelly just sent me info on a dinner/theatre combo ticket to see LotR at Drury Lane, with food at a fancy pizza place. Very very tempting. The next best thig to totty on the stage: Tolkien on the stage.
