Quick, I must get to a library!

So we went to see The Da Vinci Code last night. I'll start by admitting that I haven't read the book - I started, but I stopped after only about a chapter. It was last year, so I can't now remember why I stopped, but it was probably either boredom or annoyance at the writing style.

My thoughts on the film will be behind a cut, to avoid ( spoilers )

the other lie was the "you are the last descendant of jesus!" to which you then replied "no, there is another" and we caused tourists to look confused as two girls sat in Leicester square eating sandwiches and giggling over getting their classic ancient myths confused.

Ah, of course.

I love thee way you give Jesus and Star Wars equal status as 'classic myhts'.

I am of course being sarcastic about ancient myths! jesus was a real person. I just don't believe he just wasn't any more the son of g_d than the rest of us are. one of my rabbis calls jesus the first reform rabbi! not that us reform nuts think he was the mesiah. just that he was reforming judaism for the first time in a along time.

I can go with what she said - particularly as in the book Dan Brown ripped off drew his research from, they trace the French line of descent down to Mary, Queen of Scots and the Stuart dynasty - hence the true King of England AND the Sang Real is a French count... and I think I spelt that correctly... O_o !

Is that the book the authors of which tried to sue Dan Brown, but failed? It's a bit like Wolfgang Peterson trying to sue David Gemmell for copying his story about Troy - none of them have first claim to the story.

The Stuart kings being of the Sangreal is an interesting twist - so many kings have claimed to be deities, but if that were true they really were. If you believe Jesus was a deity. Which, as I think I've said before, I don't.

I've just got back from seeing the film, and I pretty much agree with your review of it (though I'm posting my own in a bit). There seems to be a lot of complaining about how 'slow' it is, but, you know, maybe I have a longer attention span, or maybe it was because it was subject matter that has a meaning to me, but I didn't really notice that ( ... )

The line about shooting the French manservant made me titter, I must admit. And he turned out to be a baddie, so he would have had it coming.

Everyone had told me that Langdon takes ages to figure out the mittor writing, so I was pleasantly surprised when he solved that 'puzzle' instantly.

And yes, it shouldn't matter that he was a father.
