And now, the good

I did promise you the good parts of what I've been doing, didn't I? I didn't forget. I just got a little caught up with work being insane, and Easter.

Hmmm

It's funny, I know a lot of good stuff has happened to me lately, but it's always the bad stuff that sticks in your mind.

So I think I'll just talk about Melbourne for the moment... That was nothing short of amazing. The only bad thing is that I wasn't there long enough. Next time I'll be going for two nights, so I can spend a day soaking up the city. (I started off by saying 'drinking in the city' there, but thought it might give the wrong impression *grin*)

The hotel was okay. Turns out the Mercure in Melbourne isn't quite as nice as the one in Sydney, but it had a big comfy bed so I was quite happy! And they make a LOVELY breakfast. Which I ate on the aforementioned big comfy bed.

After I checked in, I had about two hours in which to sight-see and get dinner before I had to leave for the theatre, so I decided not to try and do anything tourist-y and just went out for a walk. If you've ever met me, you know how unlike me that is. I don't do the walking thing. I do the driving/cab/bus thing. In Melbourne, it seems I walk. Go figure.

I had wanted to meet up with an old friend of mine who I haven't seen in years, but unfortunately she couldn't make it. I rang her though (we haven't had a proper conversation since we were 16) and was amazed because we seriously chatted like we'd never grown apart. She's moved to Wollongong now, so I'm determined to see her soon.

My boss is very perplexed at me, 'cause I told her I went wandering around the shops.

"Ooh!" she said. "What clothes did you buy?"

"Er...none."

"No? What about handbags? Or jewellery?"

"Nope"

"But then, what did you buy?"

"Well..." sez I, "There was this little second-hand bookshop..."

*snerk* One day she will understand me.

After dinner I walked(!) back to the hotel and got changed, then walked(!) to the theatre. I wasn't exactly sure where the theatre was, but I had my google-map print out! I don't think it was needed though, because I'm sure I would have been drawn there.

As I wandered along, I could hear music playing. It seemed to be coming from the right direction, so I drifted towards it. Then I turned a corner and fell in love. No, seriously. I have no idea where I was, although I know I'll be able to find it again. I have to go back there.

There were two or three theatres. An open-air stage where a free concert was taking place. Cafe's overlooking everything. There may have been a fountain, I'm not sure anymore. There was also more, but I was kinda overwhelmed. The whole area screamed 'I am the arts, love me!' And oh, I do.

After the play, I walked(!) back to the hotel (in the middle of the night, which probably wasn't sensible) and collapsed. I had to leave early the next day, which meant no more Melbourne for me. That was all I saw. That was all I needed. I may be married to Sydney, but I think I'll be conducting a clandestine affair with Melbourne...

And no, I haven't forgotten about the play!

Season at Sarsaparilla was fabulous. I won't be going into too much depth, because it was a while ago now, but I remember a few key things. Mainly, of course, that I loved it. Even Eden didn't annoy me the way he usually does. Hayley did, of course. But I really don't like her. Amber was brilliant, as always. I really do like her.

I did like the storyline with the nightshift worker/his wife/his old friend. It's funny though. I heard someone afterwards commenting that while they figured there'd be a punch-up, they didn't see the friend kissing him. I saw the kiss coming, but not the punch...

And there was Luke. Dear, gorgeous Luke. In such a different role! The shy, painfully awkward Aussie boy. They're a dying breed now, but I used to know a few just like that. God, he did it well! And let me tell you something. Watching that man kiss is a revelation.

There he was, much like in parts of Vienna Woods, stealing the scene from the background. Leaned up against a wall, kissing Hayley(grr). Soft, playful, biting little kisses, interspersed with glances from laughing eyes. Even with Hayley, that was hot...

I do adore that man.
