Merry Christmas all!
I survived Christmas, despite the fact that it was the most stressful one I can recall. I feel that this might have something to do with the fact that it's the first Christmas in eight years where I couldn't plan my entire life from work. Now that I'm actually busy at work, I have much less free time.
On the other hand, it's also the first Christmas in eight years that I get a holiday that isn't just the public holidays. I'm off work until 10 January! Which is awesome. I haven't had this much time off work...ever! I plan on sleeping a lot. And cleaning my house. This might be the opportunity I've needed to properly get the house in order like I should have done when we moved in...two years ago. And I plan on getting some writing done.
I got some very nice pressies. Steve bought me a claddagh ring, which is something I've always wanted. I think they're so beautiful, and I love what they represent. I'm also taking it as a symbol of the way my relationship with Steve will be going forward in the next year. We've got ourselves sorted out, finally.
From family (both sides) I got some DVDs, chocolates, perfume, a Borders voucher, a hand-made photo frame and a few other bits and pieces. All very nice, I must say. Oh, and Mum is paying for my STC subscription next year. Which would be the best present ever, if not for the ring *grin*.
Christmas Day was spent in the traditional way. Both sides of the family came to our house, and I made roast beef and roast chicken for ten. I think I'm getting better at judging quantities, because there weren't masses of leftovers this time.
It was actually a really good day. Nobody fought, which makes a nice change.
Boxing day was spent at my mother-in-law's for the lunch with Steve's extended family. That was nice, although I always feel a little awkward around them. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that I never really know how to act. It's probably because we didn't have any extended family around when I was young.
So yeah, Christmas went off very nicely, although I'm now exhausted.
christmas,
