Draco still napping with the kids?

Yes, I just looked in on them. He seems rather in his element, doesn't he? Lying on a bed, surrounded by children.

Yeah. Yeah, I guess he does. Although, if you'd of said that five years ago, I'd of said you were nutters.

Draco has always had a soft spot for children. I can remember when we were younger, around six years old I'd say, he was fascinated by my baby sister.

Has he? I mean...I guess that I...well, I didn't know him then, and for a long time after we first met, we weren't exactly friends. The opposite, really. We got into trouble more times than I can count for fighting. Even after all this time, I can't really imagine what he would have been like when he was little. Growing up in that house.

I didn't know you had a sister. Does she still live with your parents?

Draco was a really intense child, which is why I think we got on so well even though I was a bit older than him. He didn't like to do things that most kids his age liked to do, if that makes sense. I think that he just wanted to much to be like his father that Draco spent all of his time copying Lucius.

She died, actually. She was two years old when it happened. Mum had a tough time being pregnant with her, I remember, and she was never truly healthy. Draco was really devastated. He even asked his mum to have another baby.

I...I'm sorry, I...I didn't know. He never told me...

What was her name? I mean, if you don't want to talk abo-

No, it's quite all right. I don't mind talking about her.

Her name was Amelia.

Amelia? So that's...

That's where my daughter's name comes from, yes. I thought that my mum would appreciate the sentiment, though it only angered my father.

Have you, I mean...has he talked to you at all? Your mum comes by to visit sometimes, right?

He came by with my mum once, but he didn't really say anything or interact with Amelia at all. I'd rather he just not come at all, to be honest. I think that he's written me off, and I've done much the same at this point.

That's...I can't even imagine that. Your own grandchild, even. I mean, I know that Sirius and Draco don't really get along most of the time, but Sirius would never take it out on our kids.

Um. What about her other father? Has he even seen her?

Sirius? Sirius Black? He's your godfather, isn't he?

Darren has only seen her once, and that was on accident. I happened to be shopping at Boots and we ran into him. Literally ran into him, that is. He was coming into our aisle as I was turning the corner. He took one long look at her, and then looked at me, and then promptly bolted out the door. For a moment, I thought that he was going to sick up right there on the floor.

Yeah, he's my godfather. He's great, he...he was best friends with my dad when they were at Hogwarts and then-

Well, it's nice having that link to my parents through him. And he's really great with the kids. You should meet him one day.

It would have served him right if he had gotten sick. I honestly do not understand how someone can just abandon their child like that. When I look into Emmy's eyes, or feel James' little fingers grab onto my thumb, I just can't imagine being able to turn away from them.

I wasn't that surprised when Darren turned his back on us, to be perfectly honest. He was just a bloke that I was having a bit of a laugh with, really. Nice arse, nice hands, you know how it goes. He wasn't exactly marriage material, and I'm pretty certain that he was seeing other people when we were dating. It was my own mistake, but not one that I can being myself to regret, all things considered.

It's getting cold out here. Maybe we should head back inside.
