Title: Simplicity of Daisies
Quote: There is love embedded in the subtle simplicity of every day. Don't overlook it. It's gentle magic. It's life's gift. Take it. Let it charm you.
My Interpretation: Sometimes it takes a downpour to find a single drop.
Rating: Almost G (there is a bad word)
Lyrical inspiration: Simple Things by Jim Brickman
Written for the chlack Valentine’s day challenge.

A/N: A special thanks to kathryn1193 for finding this song and for her ideas and encouragement.

Simplicity of Daisies …

She watched as he stood while the waves crashed below. He was lost and alone. His heart was empty. His mind was lost.

“Let’s go home.”

With a gentle hand she led him way. Within his trust he promised he would follow.

Hey, time won't wait
Life goes by
Every day's a brand new sky
Every tear comes to dry
All that really matters in this crazy world
Is you and I together, baby just remember...

Chloe often found herself staring in to the darkness of the expanse of forever, her vision broken only by the rising sun and its gifts of love. With morning sunlight, color flowed though, shining a forever across the water. A change in breath, fullness in heart brought forth a cooling breeze. With love, surrounded in light, Chloe welcomed the crisp morning dew.

How she loved to watch him run.

The first leaves of the tree,
The way you look at me,
A thousand chiming church bells ring
The simple things are free

The music swelled within him like an old, classic Hollywood movie. He effortlessly passed though the growing crowd. The smiles of the strangers passed unnoticed. A goal, a life led the way. Book upon book, with line upon line he searched for a simple perfection. He would find for what he wanted. He wants for what he will find.

“Mommy, Mommy! This one! I luuuuv this one! I have it? Pleaze…Mommy…Pleaze…”

The joyful cries broke into his focus world. He watched as the woman smiled at her child. He watched the growing glow in the little girl’s eyes. The daisies were focus. Hand within hand the pair faded into an awaking world.

The sun, the moon, the stars,
The beating of two hearts
How I love the simple things,
The simple things just are
So here we go
Let's just dance

The sounds of laughter flowed from the sands. The sets of swings contained the blossoms of blessed youth. Before the pair a blanket lay with bounty abound, delicacy of taste with savor in touch. A gentle breeze brought hope and sight.

Teach my soul to take this chance
Put my heart in your hands
Out of all the moments that we leave behind
Turn around and tell me baby we'll remember...

“Thank you.”

The voice was velvet in her ears.

“Jack, it’s just a picnic,” she replied.

He dropped his head and smiled, “This is so much more than that.”

Chloe wondered what he really meant but didn’t want to ask. As his eyes met hers she acknowledged his grateful soul.

It began with a single drop. The daisies swayed.

A clouds burst open and the heavens fell. Eyes dewed within the laughter as they gathered their soaking feast. Hands reached to catch the falling treasures finding the most simplest of all.

The thunder and the rain,
The way you say my name
After all the clouds go by the simple things remain
The sun, the moon, the stars,
The beating of two hearts
How I love the simple things,
The simple things just are

The shadow of the flowers bent in the light from the hearth. The broken cake brought the warmth of chocolate. The strawberries were kissed with laughter and cream brought a gentle comfort.

“Chloe, please don’t be mad.” Jack reached for the hidden parcel. “I have some-“

"Damn it Jack! If I've told you once, I told you a thousand times! We said we-"

He didn’t need to see the scowl that filled her; he knew full well it was there. He had made a promise, but he didn’t break it. Not really anyway.

“Chloe I didn’t buy you anything. I bought it for the baby.”

Chloe halted her intended rant. (Not that she really minded.)

“Really? It’s for the baby?”

“What? You think that I wouldn’t keep my word?” His smile reached to his arching brow. “We can always wait to open it till she is born.”

Chloe’s lips broke their pout and she took the offered treasure. Holding the pink and red box in her hand she wondered what this man would choose for a baby that had yet to be born. She quickly slipped the simple red bow. Lifting the lid she searched for the simple gift.

Lifting it from the box she held it in wonder. The cover of daisies brought wonder, but the blank pages just brought confusion.

“It’s a journal.” Jack spoke the obvious.

“I can see that, but what…”

“I thought she might like to read it one day.”

Chloe scanned again through the small book until she came to the written page. She read the page once and then again. Lifting her eyes she found his. The only thing she could say was, “I do too.”

With the simplicity of daisies he took her in his arms.

Oh, The ocean and the sky
The way we feel tonight
I know that it's the love that brings the simple things to light
The sun, the moon, the stars,
The beating of two hearts
I love the way the simple things,

“February 14 - Your mother and I have never had a simple relationship. We built trust with friendship and love with time. When I look at your mother I find amazement. She is a dream come true. And on this day, of all days, I want you to know that I love her.”

The simple things just are.
