This Hit The Nerve

I dearly wish the woman who grabbed me into a right bear hug as my father's coffin was sliding down had read this. Before she robbed me of what I wanted to be a moment to myself and a silent goodbye to my dad. I had an urge to push her away but I was both too stunned by the act and too stunned overall to do it. I wish I did. I really, really wish I ( Read more... )

The term hyena used by TLP is very fitting. I've seen this sort of people in funerals. I'm sorry you had to endure one of them yourself.

Do you read TLP frequently, by the way?

Methinks this time the "hyena" was as much a description as it was a sign of personal frustration. The one I had wasn't really a hyena... and that's the worst, actually. It *is* a case of "But I meant well!" after all. Though of course, self-centerdness aspect is most definitelly there.

And hells yeah! Checking TLP daily (or there about). Can't thank you enough for introducing me to that rare lucid jewel of the blogosphere. Just as I can never thank you enough for introducing me to the wonder that is Tim Minchin! ;)

I may have been more harsh in agreeing with the term because of personal experience, but perhaps I shouldn't be. Though still, a lot of nasty things happen when people mean well but fail to actually think about the other person they mean to be nice to. It's difficult to be absolute when it comes to such things.

I suspect that some of TLP's posts are written under the influence. ;) But he's usually very astute and dares say things very few other people dare to say. Plenty food for thought there.

Another blog I'm reading lately is http://www.screedsandquibbles.org/ . You might find it interesting, too!

Aye, I saw that other blog and I remain completely unimpressed. That 'rabid atheists' post was such a load of utter bullshit the author instantly lost all credibility and respect with me. Didn't find any other posts of his to be much more than empty tripes either so think I'll skip that one. Much better stuff around the net to be followed imo - Pharyngula, SBM, JREF, Quackwatch, The Sceptics' Guide to the Universe, Phys.org, Life without a Net etc.

Oh man! I had totally forgotten about that article. Please don't think I brought it up on purpose to annoy you or something - I just do read that guy and find his posts interesting. I guess that yeah, nothing radically novel there, but still!

LOL! Don't worry, I know. Vesna and I had such a row over it when she showed it to me... But the thing is, it did kinda put me off the whole blog more or less - Whoever is dumb enough to start off with the "atheism is jsut anotehr form of religion" and then proceed to write a whole post based on the shitty premise, plus whoever claims that the so-called "radical atheism" is a bad thing is not someone whose toughts I find worthy of reading.

Besides, as you can see, plenty of other blogs that I follow daily. ;)
