So I picked up a copy of Rurouni Kenshin, volume 3 yesterday, (go Megumi!) and on a whim decided to look up some info on Kawakami Gensai, the Hitokiri Kenshin was loosely based on. Eyebrows slightly raised when I came across this
site and others, which state Kawakami's claim to fame. Apparently the guy is "famous for felling the great idealist Sakuma Shozan in one swing, in midday."
.......
**sweat drop**
Ano, Sakuma Shozan was part of, if not THE backbone to last semester's thesis. Without his work, I might not have my B.A right now.... and Kenshin was modeled after the guy who killed him.
I know history's history, but I can't help but feel both disturbed and amused by that little tidbit. Kinda like I can now make a connection from something that would have been meaningless if I hadn't looked it up. ^_^
