AlttP is a larger challenge and more of a classic and all (then again, all old 2D Zelda games are hella hard, fuck you centripede boss!), but I agree that Ocarina was/is just such a joy to play. It's one of the few Zeldas where I'd gladly wander around the map doing nothing.
My expectations on Okamiden are so low, they've found oil by now and become millionaires. But I must be a masochistic because I'm planning to buy it as soon as it comes out. Despite of me complaining about almost everything. This game turned me into one of Those Fans, ugh.
Agreed: AlttP was definitely harder. Actually, I'm trying to remember if I finished that game- feels like I got to a point where I gave up the ghost, or maybe it was a rental.
To be honest, I'm not expecting a whole lot from Okamiden, save to be cute and possibly enjoy the gameplay. As mentioned, there's simply no way it'll compare against it's predecessor: it simply won't have the graphic abilities, not to mention the time problem (a couple of months go by? WTF?) and they're ditching the classic storyline for a "puppy" wolf god. But the previews do look good; I'm hoping this is one of those titles that's surprising in just how much fun it is. Plus, as they're building for the DS instead of porting, maybe they'll get over some of the weaknesses of the Wii version.
I got until an ice temple (I actually don't mind water temples that much, but I HATE the ice ones, and ice levels in general) and then I forgot WTF I was doing the next time I picked it up. It happened with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess too, half a dungeon and then I forgot ;;
Those are really valid points! My issue is that I adore the plot and the world in Okami, plotholicious and weird as it is, and I think they're butchering the crap out of it now for cuteness' sake. Which pains me, however, is that I find most of the sidekick kids adorable and I can't hate them despite of their creators being idiots.
