Finished AAI: Ace Attorney Investigations today. Picked up the game this month, and have become flat out embarrassed for not getting it sooner.
Without giving away too many spoilers, some of the finer points include:
*Logic! The logic system was unique to this game to date, and was fun in a "putting together the puzzle pieces" sort of way. Ditto the shifts between the two sprite modes.
* Shi-Long Lang
*Edgeworth! Well, he's one of my top faves from the series, so it was a treat to play as him.
*Detective Badd, or should I say, Detective Badd-@$$
*Shi-Long Lang
*Young Franziska! Complete with crop!
*Excellent storytelling: the more you learned in each case, the better a picture you had for the final.
*Shi-Long Lang
Yes, I'm such a Lang fan girl after this game. While at first I felt he was a Wolverine copycat (I love Logan, but the idea of a similar guy in AA was not too original from a design standpoint), as a character Shi-Long really came out on his own. There are moments I just wanted to break out and cheer for this guy. I'm assuredly looking forward to his return... and he will return. The President of Zheng Fa is a confirmed character for Investigations 2#, so there's no way the country's top cop won't return in some shape or form. Hopefully he'll keep his soundtrack too, I enjoyed the little electric guitar. Although it still falls short of Godot's "Fragrance of Dark Coffee".
In other gaming news, still waiting for Okamiden; I so wish this was a pre-Christmas release. The preview images are simply overloaded with cute. I've also been catching the news on the 3DS, most noticeably the estimated price tag, and hope they're wrong/ it'll go down with time for the playing system. I want one (natch) but at present estimates of $300 a pop (plus Canadian sales tax), dannnng, clearly not something I'll be able to pick up at release date. Luckily, while the games set for first release (Pitt!) look good, nothing screams "must get this system asap", so likely if I ever do get one it'll be a while. Still, while I don't care for 3D in theaters (re: paying extra to put on glasses over my glasses and get a headache) the concept of playing in a 3D environment, without the extra glasses, certainly sounds like a blast.
