Take This Pill. You'll Feel Better.

Alright.

I am watching TV while folding laundry and have now seen 4 ads for drugs (one was for a drug study) to manage bipolar disorder, manic depression and Adult ADD. And these ads are starting to PISS ME OFF!

They all start off with a list of symptoms and they make the list so smegging general that it basically boils down to:

Do you have emotions?
Do you think about things?
Does your life change each day?
Are you human?
Then talk to your doctor and get help immediately.

Smeg you!
Granted some people have chemical imbalances that cause their brains to not process certain things well. (My sister is one of these people) But, damnit, it seems like society isn't going to be happy until we're all on drugs and walking around like all the people in Apple's 1984 ad campaign!

One of my cousins was put on ritalin because he could "look at something, see the shapes that made it up and then rearrange the shapes in his head." Oh, yeah, THAT's abnormal as hell. Quick, pop a pill!

A good portion of my full rant on ADD and kids/adults is somewhere in triple_entendre's journal. I will add it here if I can dig it up.

And as I sign off, yet another commercial is playing (the same adult ADD one from earlier). Do you experience commerical deja vu? There's probably a pill for that, too.
