I'm the Doctor...

Joining my flist and giving my new Doctor Who thoughts!!!

I actually kinda liked it.

And I really, really, REALLY didn't think I would.

Like, at all.

But I did!

It was SO different from the previous series (with Nine and Ten), with such a different feel that it didn't upset/annoy me as much as I thought it would.

Looking over others comments - almost everyone didn't like the new opening...except me. The cheese stands alone!!! *face palm*

I don't know why I like it - I just do. The music is jaunty and the clouds don't bother me too much - I think, maybe, I like it because it too helps this feels so different from what went on before.

I can almost watch this series and imagine it completely separate - with no previous Ten or Donna or Rose - as if, all that went on before, was another show, another universe entirely - and I really, truly appreciate that. I WANT it to feel completely and totally different - that way I'm not somehow betraying Nine/Ten and their companions...annnnnd that makes me sound like a crazy fandom girl!!! :(((

Still, I relish the differences.

Eleven has some Ten mannerisms, but not enough to distract me and, while I don't find him physically attractive as I did Ten (sorry, this was a draw for me - David Tennant, yum), he is still charming in his own, odd-shaped-head-way! I can see why people would listen to him - so, in that way, I can accept him as the Doctor...though whenever he says, 'I'm the Doctor' I'm still a bit thrown - if that makes any sense.

NOW on to his companion! Amy Pond has the potential to be awesome. The actress is cute and her character is intriguing. I'm not completely sold on her yet for minor reasons that, in time, I am sure will be smoothed over. First, I can't help but be slightly irked by Moffat's recycling of previous writing. Amy meets the Doctor as a young girl, thinks of him, in a way, as her invisible friend, waits for him - and I've seen this before in 'The Girl in The Fireplace'.

Madame de Pompadour = Amy Pond

Not big on that.

And I'm still curious as to why water-based names - River Song, Amy Pond - I sincerely want him to make some joke on it - name someone Lake Oceans or something and the Doctor quip about the water names...

Regardless! Amy is strong and her ditching her impending wedding to go with the Doctor is kind of fetching. I like characters that aren't clean cut and perfect - I like characters with flaws. Besides, who wouldn't go with the Doctor?! Hell, I'd go right now *looks out window* DAMMIT!

I also hope we see more of Jeff - cute and possibly a new sort of Jack Harkness?! I won't complain!! EVER! We need more cute guys with Jack-inclinations, if you know what I'm saying!

And snapping fingers to open the Tardis doors?

I am IN!

And the new look for the Tardis, out and in, is pretty amazing. The inside in particular makes me think of Five/Eight/Nine and Ten all pushed together into one room. And the Sonic is green!! I like, like, like it! The outfit too isn't too shabby - I can go with a bowtie.

OVERALL - I will watch the next one - and really, that is the most important thing!
