I had a great birthday! Everyone called me or stopped by to say hi and made my day great!
I woke up really depressed for some reason and I couldn't figure out why. I mean...that pretty much never happens to me. So after dropping off Anna at the train station (Oh did I mention that Anna's birthday gift was cupcakes and COMING TO SURPRISE ME and it was awesome and the best thing ever!), I kind of moped about for a bit. And then I decided that since I was going to be emo I would do an emo thing and listen to The Cure...but it was a flawed plan, since I forgot how much I love The Cure and it made me so happy that I had to start dancing around and I couldn't stop grinning and that was the end of my depressive streak. I guess it lasted about....two hours? Those two hours will go a long way.
So...the rest of the day will sound pretty boring and lame, but it was actually really good. The summary goes like this: I studied for my geology midterm from about 1:00 until 5:00, and then after dinner from 6:00 until 9:00, and then from 11:00 until 2:30. In between the last two study sessions my freshmen came back from the lantern night ceremony and we celebrated with a hall tea including a birthday cake and it was fun, and important friends like Markie and Marybeth showed up, which was great.
SO THIS IS A MYSTERY: if you look at my schedule, it goes something like this: I woke up sad, got over it, and then spent the day studying. So, WHY was it such a good day? I really enjoyed myself all day, even when I was memorizing metamorphic rock formations! I just don't understand myself; yesterday should have been awful and it was really nice.
Thank you to the people who made it awesome. Although I feel bloaty because I was given birthday desserts by five different people. (Two pints of ice cream, two sets of cupcakes, and a cake.)
Nineteen feels older than eighteen. It's my last teen birthday. That's scary.
