Ok, confession time: I lost my mojo for this vid. Well, that's not entirely true. First, I lost my computer. It finally died and had to be replaced, and thanks to a faulty, though selectively so, backup, I lost around two thirds of this project. Then I lost my mojo. So I poked at it for a few weeks, completed another vid for a challenge in the meantime, and finally came back to it. Not with a plan, or even inspiration, but simply a fervert desire to follow through. Here lies the result.
"Lost" lost me, largely, last season, when my addled brain could never keep up with when I supposed to watch. But I watched intermittently throughout the third season, and for some reason, Desmond's story, however pretzely and bizarre, held my attention when the world's most boring desert island love triangle couldn't. There was something minutely epic, Greek maybe, about him, and though I balk on a primal level at the idea of "the universe...course correcting", I did like the show's treatment of will in the face of inevitability. And I'm a sucker for a broken-hearted man trying to do good (think A.E.W. Mason's "The Four Feathers").
And yes, if anyone recognizes and is curious, the title is in reference to the Stan Brakhage film of the same name.
