Cathedrals, Orcs And Pizza - The Weekend Roundup
Ok a day later than I had intended (due to me having a head cold and no enthusiasm, neither of which are much improved today) but here is it.
I went to Liverpool on Saturday. I had it all planned out. I was meeting one colleague from work and driving us to see the colleague who lived in Liverpool.
Things were going smoothly - Until I got a phone-call stating that her car had stopped working. So Demon chariot to the rescue I went to pick her up. We organised a pick up of her car and went on our way.
After a very brief stint shopping for the things we really needed we then started to just wander. I spent the entire day bemoaning the fact that I had forgotten my camera. The pictures I could have taken.
Like the guy who had about 20 cameras on his arm as he was taking photos of a student group. (do have it on my phone but think it is too small will have to upload to comp to be sure)
Or the Scientific Assistance Police car that was at the Beatles museum because there had been a fire.
Or Liverpool
Cathedral and
Cathedral The first of which inspired many Stargate & Doctor Who comments and has a car park underneath it. The second of which had stairs that my legs itched to run up and a tower that would have been fun to see if I had had my camera.
Or China town with the huge rat painted on the side of a building...
I would have been very snap-happy. Roll on Sunday
I spent a bracing morning helping K poo-pick dressed in K's green
oilskin coat with the riding straps tied round my knees feeling that I could be Doctor Who in that jacket.
Then I packed up my army of orcs 137 strong (I lost two somewhere in the house and did not have time to find them) and headed to Rob's for a battle. He faced me with lizard men. We played with a set of rules that I don't know very well but that are well simple yet not. Either way I resorted to the well what do I need to throw tactic and had him work it out for me.
The resulting battle was mayhem... I lost most of my boar boy cavalry in their heroic manoeuvre that stopped the enemy having space to advance properly. I surprised Rob with not charging after the fleeing troops but turning and charging his crossbow lizards and killing them almost to a man. I had roughly 25% losses by the end of it. Down to a round number of 100 troops... But I won! His veterans were hellish to kill but having finally flanked them on all four sides it was effectively decided that Rob's attempt had resulted in defeat. His comment "Maybe I should have someone who is dumber round next time"
So the rest of Rob's birthday became a slew of Pizza (I convinced his brother that Chicken and Jalapenos were a good combination) and Double entendres. All in all a good way to finish a day. If you ignore the head cold that started to creep up on me.
I'd do a health/diet update as well but suffice to say (after borrowing the scales at my firends) I really don't want to...
