So today after work, I decide to go to the gym.
I'm working out, feeling good even though I was tired from work, and I'm just finishing up on a weight machine.
THEN some 'personal trainer' guy - make that douchebag -- comes walking up to me, says, "hey I've been noticing you working out here every day - and I just wanted to say good for you! That's great! But I can't help but notice you going on that eliptical trainer every day. You're so fast on that thing! But you want to remember to add in weight training to get those muscles you need to work out properly. Doing all cardio will drain out all vitamins and muscles you need".

ok, at this point, I'm starting to get annoyed. Does he not see me on a WEIGHT MACHINE? I understand and know what he's saying, but I don't think he really needs to tell me that-- as if I'm going to be like, "REALLY?!? NO WAY! WOW! THATS THE SOLUTION TO ALL MY PROBLEMS! THANKS MR TRAINER GUY, FOR STATING THE OBVIOUS! WE NEED MUSCLES TO SURVIVE??? NO WAY!"

I do, however, want to know what exactly to do and not to do while doing weights, as well as some different techniques to do while i'm working on my muscle tone.

so he invites me into his office, asks me to do a free training day next week, and them proceeds to weigh me.
I begged him to not make me do it, but I did.

this is where i get pissed off.

He tells me, "well, buy March we can get you to weigh ___ (<-insert lbs here, I'm not telling you guys that part!), which just so happens to be 25 lbs less than what I way right now.
Now I'm not ridicuously skinny or anything, but I'm definately not overweight. I would like to loose about 10 lbs, 15 at max. He's telling me I should loose 25? That's 15 lbs under the "ideal weight" for my heighth! I've been that weight he's said I should be, and less than that weight, but I was really unhealthy when that happened. I was in a really bad state at that time. I do not want to go back to that.

Just because society tells everyone that looking good means only having one body type that everyone should have does NOT mean that its healthy. Just because some women might be at their healthiest at that size does not mean that everyone should be that size.
UGH
it just makes me mad because its things like this that causes eating disorders. This is why our society is so screwed up and twisted with our views of image.
I know he's telling me that I should loose that much because he wants me to give into him by shoving him $300/month - if he were to tell me that I should only loose 10 lbs, I would be less likely to go to him for weight loss, thus, he wouldn't get any money from me. So instead he tells me that I should become this ridiculous, unhealthy weight, just so he can make money.
I'm sorry, but thats messed up.

Its people like him that got my mom into the way she is now, obsessed with being skinny. Its funny that the weight HER trainer told her to be is now where she's at, and he just told her the other day, "boy, you look like you need to gain weight!". Yeah thanks asshat, you just completely contradicted yourself and in the process made my mom go through a living hell of weight loss and obsession.

how can people live their lives knowing they do this to people for money???

well i'm sure nobody read that, this is a big rant over something that probably isn't that big of a deal to anyone else, but i just couldn't help but rant over this.
