Doctor Who: The Tomb of the Cybermen

May 25, 2010 10:49

Good morning kids!

So I woke up this morning, absolutely knackered from my long day at work yesterday, and decided that I would do whatever I wanted today. So I drank some tea, ate honey nut Shredded Wheat and watched The Tomb of the Cybermen.

It was brilliant! I know Matt Smith loves that episode, and I think he's secretely used a lot of the Second Doctor in his performance. I can see why he thinks the episode is good. I think the old Cybermen are much scarier than the modern day ones - I mean, yes, the prosthetic outfits are really quite crap, but they still look frightening. The voices are so emotionless - the modern day voices still sound angry and harsh, but the old ones just sound flat and empty.

I mean... how is that not scary:

(this picture isn't mine - I found it online).

It was a great episode. The Second Doctor is brilliant, funny, witty, clever and brilliant. He really loves his companions and would do anything to defeat evil. Jamie is fantastic - he is so protective of Victoria, and yet at the same time will do anything to keep the Doctor safe. Victoria is pretty damn awesome too - she won't just sit around and wait for the Doctor to sort it out, she's a fighter too.

All in all, this is a great episode. I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted to see what Classic Who was like.

Next stop: The Mind Robber!

Hope you are all well. I'm fine, still sat in my pyjamas, but who cares! I'm on my day off I can do whatever I like. It is thankfully a little cooler today so I won't be melting in the sunlight or overdosing on ice lollies to try and cool down. All in all, so far today has been a good day - and it's only just begun.

Take care,

Shaz xxx
