Because have you seen Taemin with Kai and Lu Han?
For
linnhe because she's kawaii.
Taemin hasn’t been in Kai’s room in years - the SM dorms having become their home a long time ago - and it’s a surreal familiar feeling to be back there again, the walls the same pale green as when they were just thirteen.
It had been fun to finally be able to go to a local outside festival, like any normal group of teens. They had been on their way to Kai’s parents’ house, a long way from any big city like Seoul, when they had seen the flames of a bonfire and decided to check it out. Under the cover of night and the influence of alcohol, no one seemed concerned with, or to even notice three random boys showing up. No one asked for pictures or followed them around - well two girls did, but they just wanted someone to go on one of the rides with them and thought the boys were cute. It wasn’t until after that they said that one of them thought their faces were familiar and by that time they had slipped back into the crowd.
Kai’s room felt cold and crisp, perfect against Taemin’s skin from the windows left open to the night air. He sat crossed-legged on the spread of blankets and sleeping mats on the right side of the room. Kai came in directly after him, shaking water from his eyes after washing his hair in and face in the sink.
“Weren’t you super excited to take a real shower ten minutes ago?”
Kai yawned, lazily stretching revealing the slender curve of his stomach as his shirt rode up and he flopped on to the side of Taemin closest to the window.
“Yeah but, that was ten minutes ago. Mmm tired.”
Taemin nodded, his old glasses sliding down his nose. He hadn’t been able to find his good pair before they left and had just thrown his old ones in a case so they wouldn’t have to wait on him. The nose pads had come off a while ago and the frames were ridiculously old fashioned, but it didn’t really matter. It wasn’t like he was going to wear them often anyways.
He set them down on the corner of the floor as Kai switched off the light and curled up on his side facing the door. He was almost out by the time Se Hun and Lu han came creeping into the room, their eyes still unadjusted to just the moonlight. Taemin however could see them clearly, Se Hun padding clumsily to the other side of the room while Lu Han crouched down gracefully and began systematically patting around him before scooting forward.
He saw Lu Han smile to himself a little bit as Kai turned over loudly and made a grunting noise in his sleep. Finally Lu Han found where the fourth blanket was and dropped down next to Taemin. His body stiffened as his hand brushed against Taemin’s elbow, suddenly aware of the boy next to him but unsure if he was asleep of not. Taemin’s immeditate reaction was to fake it, rolling onto his side so that when Lu Han’s eyes did adjust he couldn’t see Taemin’s face. He was desperately trying to keep it neutral, but for some reason was finding it hard to.
Lu Han repeated the motion, this time running up against the bumps of Taemin’s spine, and then waited before reaching out a finger to poke Taemin’s shoulder. Taemin instinctively found himself responding back, his right foot coming up to lightly tap Lu Han’s knee as he twisted in his fake slumber.
Lu Han kept it up, continually prodding Taemin, seeing how Taemin responded as if to shrug the other off, but really shifting ever so slightly closer and closer to the older boy the whole time. Finally, Lu Han flipped onto his stomach and in doing so ran a hand through some of Taemin’s hair.
No, pet Taemin’s hair.
Despite Taemin pretending to be asleep, and how he was pretty sure Se Hun and Kai were actually long gone, Lu Han was now very carefully pretending to not be conscious.
Taemin smiled at the game, and it made a sound. The stretching of his mouth into a grin was audible it was so quiet, and he froze as he realized Lu Han had heard it. He could feel that Lu Han had heard it, and now he knew Taemin had be faking this entire time.
They stayed silent and unmoving, backs facing each other for what felt like forever, until finally Taemin was curious if he had made up the whole thing and Lu Han really had only accidentally bumped him in his sleep.
Taemin rolled towards his right and before he could even shift his pillow back under his head a hand slipped around his waist to keep him in place as a stomach pressed against his. Lu Han’s belly was cold through the fabric of his t-shirt and it felt good, it felt exciting.
Lu Han smirked, his lips pressed tightly together like if he didn’t they might do something stupid. And how badly did he want to do something stupid.
Taemin put both hands beneath his head, unsure what else to do with them and held his body perfectly still, worried it might all end otherwise.
The room had smelled faintly of the bbq Kai’s mother had been cooking earlier that night, mixed with the fresh scent of the country area coming in from the window. Taemin’s pillow had a different older worn smell of soap and the closet the extra bedding had been stored in. Now that he and Lu Han were only inches apart however, all he could smell was him. His hair, his breath, the scent of the campfire still heavy on his skin. Taemin felt like he was dreaming for a second as his eyes closed and a pleasant warm, wet sensation registered in his brain.
He opened his eyes and realized Lu Han was kissing him, very slowly, as Taemin’s mouth had fell open slightly, his lips parting to fully appreciate and taste his scent. Taemin wondered if it was weird he wanted to keep it, categorize it. He pushed his tongue back.
Lu Han pressed himself ever so slightly closer, and Taemin hoped he could die. It felt far too good for him to just be kissing. There was simply no way this was happening, there was no way this was real.
His ears felt hot as he realized Lu Han was saying something to him.
“You feel so nice.”
It sounded like a hum and Taemin wanted to say something back but he couldn’t think of much as Lu Han slipped his hands around the back of Taemin’s head and nuzzled into his neck. He rolled his body on top of Taemin’s and it felt so good to be pressed into the floor like this. Taemin was always one of those kids that had to sleep covered in a blanket even if it was too hot, he didn’t feel comfortable otherwise, unlike Kai who seemed to be able to spread eagle his body just about anywhere, completely unconcerned. Now though, with Lu Han covering Taemin’s skin, he had never felt better, the weight on top of him giving way to a strange floating sensation.
“You want to go swimming tomorrow?” Lu Han asked quietly.
Taemin looked up into Lu Han’s eyes, “Won’t it be too cold?”
Lu Han shrugged cutely, unconcerned of the particulars of the matter.
“Okay,” Taemin nodded, “yeah.”
