Soon I'll have my kombucha tea, a new daily elixir which I buy even though it's expensive because I believe it will help me get well.

I can't remember if I've asked you this already, but do you find the alcohol in the kombucha to be a problem? I have a big ol' jug of it in the fridge that I bought at the farmer's market a while back, but I'm concerned about the alcohol content...how much do you drink at a time?

I drink 16 oz a day and it's funny you ask that, I think I got tipsy on it yesterday when I slammed a glass on an empty stomach! I commented to Ali who teased me for being first a lush then a lightweight, but seriously, it hit me! Usually it doesn't, though. So it doesn't bother me at all!

Have you thought about brewing your own kombucha?

I have thought about it, and might one day try it, though we're now (as of this week) workin' a sweet deal from my favorite kombucha makers, Buddha's Brew. We buy a case a week and pay only 2.50 a bottle, which is very little compared to store prices, and very little when you consider that it tastes LIKE HEAVEN!!! They use organic cane juice as a sweetener and brew the tea with filtered water and I get the ginger flavor which is delicious, I'm not sure i could replicate all that for much less than they charge! Maybe once things calm down and I have a little more time to do stuff I'll try it, though. Have you ever done it?

I think you could easily replicated that for less than they charge, but it takes some time. I've never made it, but my friend Joy has recently started making it herself. I got dried organic cane juice at the grocery store, a bag was less than $3, and fresh ginger is pretty cheap too.

There is a lot to be said for not having to make it yourself, but if you're trying to save money it might be worth reading about.

I think you're right, Alix. I'm intrigued and tempted now, I might try to do it myself! Then I could drink more than just one jar a day!
