A/N: A WIP. It will be my first chapter fic, so... here it goes! This one's short, just the prologue.

The skiing conditions that were being projected on her computer screen were virtually perfect. Fresh powder and sun was the perfect combination, Annabelle thought, to relieve the post-break up awkwardness. She really hated breaking up with guys; most of them were entirely too sweet for their own good. But she wasn’t the type of woman to stick with one guy for long. This one had lasted longer than most-six months, in fact. That was why she needed the skiing weekend. She needed some time away from home. Hence the reason she was in this rented condominium; not a terrible place to be, all in all. Time for some relaxation, away from nagging mothers and inconvenient boyfriends. A fling, she thought, would do her good right now.

After a healthy breakfast, she grabbed her boot bag and caught the shuttle to the mountain’s lodge. Her equipment was borrowed from a friend; Annabelle had enough monetary problems as it was without skiing equipment. Mount Solitude  had relatively decent facilities, and she quickly found a table. The lodge was crowded, and the familiar hum of people preparing for a day on the slopes was comforting. It was so easy to get lost in a crowd.

She strapped on her boots while reaching around in her bag to find her helmet. The lift opened in approximately fifteen minutes, and she wanted to be one of the first up the mountain. Stowing the bag underneath the lodge table, she hefted the skis onto her shoulder; barely registering the extra weight of the helmet in her haste. Quickly, she tried to cram the helmet onto her head. She screamed.

There was a head in the helmet.
