OK, completely seriously question, going out to all of you:
Does anyone want to come to the Austin City Limits Festival with me in September? At least check out the lineup and other details here and read below before you completely shake your head and write off the idea.
I am DYING to go to this festival. Seriously, life is literally draining out of me, I want to go so badly. Here are the reasons why you should come with me:
1- The line up. The three headliners who I am personally most excited about seeing are Bob Dylan, Bjork, and the Arcade Fire. There are tons of other bands playing throughout the festival who it would also be pretty freaking sweet to see.
2- The cost. $145 for a 3-day festival with 130 bands is a very good price. See prices of other summer festivals (Lollapalooza, Cocachella, and the Virgin Festival, to name a few) for comparison (they are/were all more expensive, and some feature fewer bands and last for fewer days). As for the trip to Austin- I understand this ups the price, but I'm sure if we looked hard we could find some good deals. The camp sites are cheap and I have a few contacts who live in Austin- I'm willing to bet they would help us out with storing camp site stuff during the day time, transportation around Austin, etc.
3- The timing. It is in September, so it will hopefully not be so freaking hot in Texas. Yes, this means that for you college kids, it might cut into class. But really, who can't take one Friday off from classes? No one, that's who. Who can't be really sleepy for a Monday morning lab after flying back into town late Sunday night? Let's be serious, it won't be any worse than when you go hung over.
4- Finally, I have always had this completely cliche dream of going to some great music festival with my friends and having a totally awesome and memorable time, seeing great bands, camping out, boozing it up, etc. A serious part of this dream cannot be fulfilled without the presence of you, my friends. It is up to you to help make my dream come true, people.
So, if anyone is interested, please let me know. I know this is not the be all and end all of music or anything, but I really *really* want to go. Come with me?
