By most standards, today should've been a good day. My hair was really cooperating, my boss has confirmed I will be getting a 3% raise and that I'm going to Korea, and my classes went smoothly and without mishap. Plus, today was a gorgeous day. The perfect temperature, the sun shining, and the birds singing.
I should've been happy. I should not have been a nervous ball of anxiety. But I also should've been walking my dog when I got off work at 5pm. Instead, my dear coworker, Rebecca (the sweetheart), was helping me to hold Pedro down at that time while I cleansed the rubber drains sticking out of him like some pathetic porcupine costume. And oh, the joys of hydrogen peroxide. Yep, he loved that part.
But enough with the whining. Today was also awesome because my dad was sweet enough to drive all the way to Lewiston to bring me water and a CD I ordered from a genealogy database distributor. We went shopping and now my cupboard is stocked.
On the up side, despite the fact that he nearly bit me several times, Pedro is more himself and less Zombie!Pedro. He was excited enough to hear my dad's voice that he even jumped down, then yelped, then went to see my dad, yelped some more and went back to my bed. It was almost cute except for the yelping part. But he's beside me, he's breathing, and he's shown his trauma magnet self may be bent...but not broken. Even if he looks really, really bad. Heh.
