Title: Sleep
Pairing: Kyuhyun/Zhou Mi
Rating: pg
Genre: fluff
Summary: The first time Kyuhyun spent the night in Zhou Mi's room, it was partway on accident. He'd lost his hotel room key somewhere, must've dropped it when he was adjusting his bags or something, and he'd remembered what floor they were staying on but not which number was his. He'd knocked on a door at random, and Zhou Mi had answered, and he'd barged right on in.
a/n: Found this in the back of one of my old school notebooks from well over a year ago and apparently never got around to posting it? Whoops. ^^; ...this fic is so outdated it hurts, but this will have to do until I get inspiration to write something new again.
The first time Kyuhyun spent the night in Zhou Mi's room, it was partway on accident. He'd lost his hotel room key somewhere, must've dropped it when he was adjusting his bags or something, and he'd remembered what floor they were staying on but not which number was his. He'd knocked on a door at random, and Zhou Mi had answered, and he'd barged right on in.
"Aren't you supposed to be in Siwon's room?"
"I'm staying in here instead."
Kyuhyun was too tired to explain fully, and Zhou Mi was too tired to question him, so he just pulled back the sheets and made room on the mattress, and Henry had stopped questioning these things a long time ago. They fell asleep back to back, but when the alarm went off a couple of hours later they were tucked into each other, Zhou Mi's breath warm and sleepy on his neck. Kyuhyun shoved him away and grumbled something incoherent, but then they got up and that was the end of it.
...
The second time, it was on purpose. Donghae was crying again, tired or homesick or missing his father or everything all at once, and Kyuhyun left Han Geng and Siwon to handle the comforting, to initiate what would soon turn into marathon phone calls with his mom, with Eunhyuk, with Leeteuk.
It wasn't that Kyuhyun didn't care. He was the one who told Han Geng, so it wasn't that at all. He was just tired and didn't know what to say or what to do, and it hurt to see Donghae's smile crumble and break. SO he knocked on Zhou Mi's door, no explanation necessary since Zhou Mi was rooming with Han Geng this time and must have known when Han Geng left exactly what was going on.
He could have taken Han Geng's bed, since the chances of him coming back before their early wake-up call was next to zero, but he didn't, and Zhou Mi didn't protest.
"Are you all right?" he asked, but Kyuhyun just closed his eyes and slept, feeling too exhausted to fight the arm that rested so lightly across his stomach.
...
The third time, it was deliberate.
"Switch rooms with me."
And Siwon did, so Kyuhyun set his duffle bag next to Zhou Mi's suitcase, and he followed Zhou Mi into the bed he picked.
"You don't want your own?"
"I sleep better like this."
He might have imagined that Zhou Mi moved closer, but the hand that curled near his hip was very solid and real. He closed his eyes and rolled over, so tired that Zhou Mi's bony shoulder somehow seemed more comfortable than the cheap hotel pillow.
...
The fourth was coincidence. They'd been assigned the same room, one bed because SM always cut as many costs as possible when they were touring, saying that all the money was going to the stages, to the travel, to security. There was some controversy there, in the way that SNSD had their own jet while Super Junior rode business class, that the boys had to share beds while the girls got a whole floor of the hotel to themselves, but Kyuhyun had long since stopped caring about that.
He let Zhou Mi shower first, gamed on his laptop until a warm hand dropped on his shoulder.
"Bathroom's yours. Go shower, and we can sleep."
The "we" took Kyuhyun by surprise slightly, but then he remembered that this was Zhou Mi, clingy to begin with and more so when he was stressed -- which he inevitably was, because their concert tomorrow was in Seoul, and singing a solo to people who refused even to leave their lightsticks on for him had to be horrible.
Kyuhyun closed his laptop, then, and stood to get his arms around Zhou Mi's skinny waist.
"Let's just sleep now. I'll shower in the morning."
And Zhou Mi looked so confused, even as he completed his half of the embrace.
"Are you sure? You should at least wash your face."
Kyuhyun shoved him off at that, bristling slightly at the jibe about his poor skin -- but Zhou Mi was laughing and tugging him close again, breath warm on his collar, and he gave up, couldn't be angry when he'd gotten Zhou Mi to smile.
"Just get in bed, idiot."
So they both did, stretching out under the sheets, and this time it was Zhou Mi who rolled closer, tucking his nose into Kyuhyun's neck.
"Can I sleep like this?"
"Mm."
Noncommittal, but Kyuhyun shifted the arm Zhou Mi was laying on -- not to push him off, but to get more comfortable.
"Shut up and sleep."
...
Somewhere between the fourth and fifth time, it became habit, and the others began to recognize that any bed with Zhou Mi in it automatically became Kyuhyun's.
Kyuhyun never said anything about it, and all Zhou Mi said was "thank you".
