I'm not really ready to swear it off, just yet. I still love the show and am really liking the new characters they bring in in season 4. And the writing is still good. It's just reaching the point that SG-1 reached in season 9, where the writing got almost too bold and it became too easy to create new ships and kill of characters. Actually I think Janet Fraser's death in season 8 is analogous to Carson's death in season 3. (They have a problem with completely amazing CMO's apparently).

But I'll keep watching it, because I still love it and because I own all the seasons of both shows and need to keep up the collection. They're in production of a third series which I can't see myself getting into much. It's following the Star Trek route. SG-1 is very TNG, Atlantis is the second, amazing series just like DS9 and the third is going to be very Voyager, following all the formulae, but becoming a little generic, but having it's moments.

Think on the bright side. When they killed off Janet Fraser, we got Andromeda from Andromeda. Now, Carson's being replaced by Kaylee from Firefly who is a wonderful actress. Even though his death bugs me, they picked a good replacement.

(I think it would be awesome to go through every season in both series' so far and write down all the actors from other sci-fi series that got sucked into Stargate because there's a LOT)

lol. I should send you the crossover vid someone did, chronicling all of the Star Trek characters who appeared on Babylon 5 and vice versa.

Yeah, I'm not quite ready to write it off just yet, I'm still fairly loyal to the characters. I'm just not filled with quite as much awesome for it as I was when it first came out. I completely can't see myself getting into the third series at all, and I'm not sure if I even care about the movies. Your comparison is well founded. Although in the realm of awesome scifi, have you actually seen much of B5? I'm trying to find someone who has, because I went and watched all five seasons straight through, and it is pretty much the most made of win thing I've seen in my entire life; I'm offically a B5 convert.

It's really funny, at least two to three actors from every major sci-fi series (except the original star trek) have made cameos in stargate. I think Star Trek Enterprise is tied with Firefly for the win.

Firefly: Jayne, Kaylee, Inara

DS9 and Farscape are in a close second, lol

And don't get me addicted to another series, lol. I'm slowly but surely collecting the seasons of DS9 and Stargate Atlantis (thank goodness, there's just one more movie for SG-1 slated) and am trying to avoid being sucked in by Sex and the City, and failing miserably. Plus, I've always wanted all the seasons of Hercules...because that was my favorite show ever as a kid. Xena never did much for me, but Hercules was just wonderful.

Sigh...now if only I could afford such things, lol.

btw (SG-1: The Ark of Truth isn't bad. It's very First Contact in the way the story is set up, but it nicely ties up the Ori arc, though it could have been a bit longer. Let's hope they stop at Continuum...)
