I'M HOME

So I'm back from San Francisco and I am feeling so damn good. It was such a fun holiday. Nothing but good food and good wine. I think we did everything you could possibly imagine to do in San Francisco. We stayed in Nob Hill so we were smack in the middle of the city. We spent a lot of time in North Beach hanging out in cafes and reading in the park. We went to Napa and the winelands. Dad works in San Francisco so much and he seemed to know all of the best places to go and eat and hang out. I've never known shopping so good in my life. The City Lights Bookstore has the best theatre section I've ever seen. Every play you could possibly imagine was there. All the more obscure Arthur Miller and Tom Stoppard plays and plays by tons of unknown playwrights. I got so excited, I didn't know where to start. We went to San Francisco MOMA which was a bit of a let down. I really, really, REALLY, hate minimalism. A lot. Joe find out about an African Orthodox Church called the Church of St. John Coletrane. Apparently he's a saint. So we went to Sunday worship. And we did this after walking through the Haight-Ashbury crazy ass hippy neighborhood where everything smelled like pot. It was nuts.

Our last day, we went to the Golden Gate Park and saw the quilts of Gee's Bend Alabama and a really cool Chicano art exhibit. Most of the art in the Chicano exhibit was, ironically, owned by Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong. The man's got excellent taste. He owned the best pieces in the whole exhibit. After the museum we went to the Botanical gardens. Dad's mom sent some seeds from her garden for their South African section. When we were there, I tried to inhale the air around the garden to see if it smelled like home and it didn't. Oh well...

But the best part of this holiday was just having my family to myself. Joe and I shared a bedroom in the hotel and we'd stay up late every night talking about music, art, poetry, literature, acting, film, philosophy, or anything we happened to think up. We're on the same wavelength. We think the same way. Goddamit, I wish we could do that all year, every day. We went and saw 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee together. We were laughing so hard, we were crying. I've never seen him enjoy anything that much.

And now we're back home. And I have to get ready for school. My IDs for the first two chapters are both done. I need to find my copy of "World According to Garp" and get some serious reading done before I get back to school. I need to get my schedule un-fucked. Joe is going back to college in a week or two. I wish I was going with him.

I need to stop loitering on College Board.

This is my list as of now:
- Adelphi University
- Boston University
- Brandeis University
- Carnegie Mellon University
- Emerson College
- Eugene Lang College New School for Liberal Arts
- Fordham University
- Juilliard School
- New York University
- Northwestern University
- Syracuse University
- University of California: Berkeley
- University of Maryland: College Park (my token FAFSA school)
- University of the Arts
- Yale University (HA!)

Fifteen schools....I'm such a nerd. Why the fuck am I thinking about this now?

I'm going to go do something stupid and trite now. Then I'll feel like less of a boob.
