The weather had never been on Jinki’s side. They weren’t friends or even close acquaintances, in fact, Jinki was more than sure that since the day he was born he was weather’s worse enemy. The day had started off rather well for him but when he watched the weather channel and heard about the chance of rain he knew nothing good would come of it. The other member’s didn’t bother offering Jinki any words of encouragement as they all clambered inside the van and headed off for the Let’s Start Sharing concert. They were all tired from the endless Lucifer performances and even Minho was starting to show the first few signs of exhaustion. Their manager was spouting endless words of encouragement but they all just seemed to glance off of Jinki to bounce and stick to surfaces around the van. His normally bright eyes were dull with worry and the need for a full day’s sleep.

The crowd was already excited and hyped up to see the different idols start to perform. Backstage was a buzz of positive energy, or as positive people could get with the chance of rain coming down and wetting the stage, and Jinki put on his brightest smile and bowed to everyone who came his way. The minutes ticked by as group after group performed and there weren’t any incidents. The dark clouds slowly started to form over the stage however when Jinki heard the backstage helpers call from SHINee to get ready to go out next. He closed his eyes and figured it would be his performance that would make the rain come to pour on the stage. Minho gave the obviously nervous leader a solid clap on the shoulder and Jinki could feel whatever confidence he may have possessed falling to the bottom of his shoes.

Lifting his head up, Jinki lead the members out onto the stage as they took their respective places and the song started. He put on mask that hid his trembling emotions well enough and opened his mouth for the words to start coming out. As if on cue, a small sprinkle of rain came down and pattered over the already smooth floor turning the stage into a death trap, in Jinki’s opinion. He tried not to think much of it though as he glided over the floor and tried to give the performance his all. That’s all he could do after all was provide the fans with a better performance than the last one he gave.

But that’s when it happened. He moved backwards and his foot slid too far forward on the floor and he went crashing down. Jinki felt his pride and spirit shatter into a million pieces with that fall but he bounced back up and inserted himself back into the dance. Jonghyun and Minho were sending him worried gazes but Jinki put on a bright smile and that seemed to ease their worries for the rest of the performance. The rain came and went in small drizzles that seemed to taunt and mock Jinki as he finished the song. The crowd cheered like they always cheered and as he lead the members off stage, each of his dongsaengs gave his shoulder a soft pat as they passed him. The other performers who hadn’t gone out yet bowed to Jinki and he bowed back, feet sluggishly carrying him over to a disserted couch in a corner. The cushions seemed to envelop Jinki’s body and let him slip off to a light sleep, hands buried in his face as he tried to get rid of what had just happened.

“You okay?” Jinki looked up and blinked his eyes, tears he hadn’t known were there slipping down his cheeks to leave dark dots on his pants. Seungho gave a soft smile and sat down next to the distressed leader, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and giving him a soft squeeze. Jinki never figured Seungho to be the…well to be like this but any complaint he may have had was squeezed out of him as he leaned over into the fellow leader’s warm body. Soon more tears followed the first and Jinki turned his head to hide them from anyone who may be looking, burying his face in Seungho’s shoulder. If the other male was uncomfortable with the closeness he didn’t express it, simply letting Jinki cry out his frustration at himself and his mortal enemy.

Slowly Jinki extracted himself away from the other and wiped his slightly puffy eyes, feeling lighter than before but twice as tired. He looked up at the elder leader and mouthed a silent thank you. Seungho nodded and instead of standing up, simply made himself more comfortable on the couch. That seemed to be a silent invitation to Jinki, who settled in closer to the other male’s side and stared out at the idols milling about in the waiting room. He saw Jonghyun and Taemin stuffing their faces at the refreshment table while Minho was talking with a few of the staff members while Kibum was attached to his back, passed out and more than ready to just go back to the dorm and never come out. Jinki knew the others were just as tired as him but he never noticed the extent of it.

“Am I a good leader?” Jinki spoke softly but it was loud enough for just Seungho to hear, who turned his head slightly and seemed to be in a moment of deep thought. Jinki looked over and noticed the trademark dark circles around MBLAQ’s leaders eyes and chuckled lightly that made Seungho give a look of confusion. The auburn haired male reached up a finger and traced the darkness around Seungho’s eyes before pointing up towards the ceiling. “Dark clouds. Did you bring the rain?”

Seungho laughed and shook his head, wondering how Jinki could seem down one moment and be back to his normal self the next. “You’re a great leader. You take into account each other your member’s different personalities and needs and make it work. Not many people could deal with someone like Kibum one moment and then Minho the next.” Jinki had a small flashback to a few days before when Kibum was raging about someone breaking his spatula and Minho snickering off in a corner with Jonghyun. It seemed like Minho was going to be out for the rest of the promotions when Kibum came out after his blood but Jinki, with Jonghyun’s help, was able to calm down the irate diva and scold Minho enough to get a point across.

Jinki had never realized how much of a melting pot SHINee really was. Each member was filled with different talents and moods but they were brought together by one passion, one dream. There had been plenty of times when he wanted to just give up and run away but he couldn’t find it in himself to want to be anywhere else. It took a moment for the younger of the two to realize Seungho was still talking but it all went along the lines of the same thing. Seungho was still new to the whole leader thing and when you had to deal with someone like Mir and G.O. day in and day out there was going to be a few days when you wanted to run away too. That or call the mental hospital they had escaped from. Jinki patted Seungho on the shoulder and stood up, offering a hand down to help the elder up to his feet.

“You’re a great leader too Seungho and you’ll get even better. The best advice I can give is to just listen to what each member says or needs.” Seungho filed that information away in leader to do part of his brain and gave a soft smile, hearing his manager calling him over for something. Jinki could see the other members were looking ready to head back to the dorm and crash in a giant pile on someone’s bed, usually Jinki’s since his was the easiest to get into, and Jinki let out a small yawn, his exhaustion forgotten from the small talk he and Seungho had shared.

“If you ever need any advice just give me a call anytime okay?” Jinki smiled and turned to walk off towards the rest of SHINee, ruffling up Taemin’s hair and extracting Kibum off of Minho, Jonghyun laughing softly at the large drool stain that had collected right on his shoulder blade. Seungho stood by for a moment before shaking his head and chuckling, going off towards his manager and his own set of retards milling about in a group. Seungho took out his cell phone and sent Jinki’s phone a quick text just to make sure the number worked.
Jinki was ushering when he felt his cell phone go off in his pocket. He waited until everyone was seated in the van and he was nestled in the passenger seat to take it out and see what it said. A slow smile spread over his face and he closed the phone, deciding to answer the text back when all the members were fast asleep and recovering from the exhaustion they’d been experiencing and still would have to deal with the next day.
