Highlights from September

I feel unusually patriotic today.

My daughter's second grade class put together a small performance in honor of President's Day back in February. The class sang songs like This is My Country, You're a Grand Old Flag, Yankee Doodle, and God Bless the USA.  The teacher asked everyone to wear red, white, and blue.

Last weekend, our Suzuki Piano Academy had it's annual winter piano recital.  This year, both Talia and Ethan performed in it!  Ethan started taking piano lessons in Februray 2011 - so he's been learning for exactly one calendar year.  He's made a lot of progress - and so has Talia.

Talia had her piano recital yesterday.  She played French Children's Song and London Bridge.  Unfortunately, the video is shaky because Ethan was tugging on my arm while I was filming.  Brat.  (>_<)

Ethan's first piano lesson is this week!

Today, the first graders at Talia's elementary school performed a Thanksgiving Musical for friends and family.  They sang five songs.

1. Pilgrims
2. Five Smart Turkeys
3. Turkey Tango (not shown)
4. Mashed Potatoes
5. I'm Grateful

I edited the performance down to this short compilation because I didn't want to bore anyone, ya know!  ^^;

I got to hang out with Baby Sister for hours this past weekend.  It was fun.  ^_^

I showed her tons of pictures of the kids.  She showed me her vacation photos (to Hawaii and Yosemite).  And she very patiently sat through all of my home videos of the kids.  ^^; Then she took us out to the park and treated us to ice cream at Tucker's Ice Cream - ( Read more... )

We just got back from Talia's 2nd formal piano recital.  We've been practicing very hard and she's come a long way!

I am amused. Talia "graduated" preschool at the end of May.  ^_^

My husband was not amused.  He is of the opinion is that the only "graduation" that counts is the one from college... and okay... maybe the one from high school counts, too.  When he found out that her school was having one for the kids, he couldn't believe it.  ("Graduation?  From ( Read more... )

Talia's first formal piano recital.  She played two songs, but I only uploaded one.  I don't want to bore people!  Just because I love re-watching my kids' videos and looking at my kids' photos all day...  doesn't mean that other people will find them as interesting as I do.
