Plans for June and July 2009

Jun 06, 2009 18:28

I'm busy, busy, busy!

After I got back from Fanime, I jumped right into planning the kids' joint birthday party. Talia's and Ethan's birthdays are so close together that we have joint birthday party for them every year. (See last year's birthday party here.)

I am weak. Before I had kids, I swore up and down that I would never give my kids a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, or Bounce Town, or Funtastic, or Little Gym, or any of those places that cater to little kids. I mean... Kids don't need special parties like that - besides which those kinds of parties are pretty expensive! (They run anywhere from $200 to $400.) You don't want to spoil your kids like that! Right?

But then I realized... Paying for a party like that... It's not for the kids. It's for the parents!

I'm tired. I don't want to spend all day cleaning, preparing food, organizing games, setting up decorations, and then spend all of the next day cleaning up the mess. I'm tired. So when My Gym came out with a $50 off coupon for one of their birthday parties, I caved. T_T

I couldn't help it!

Anyways... Birthday party is tomorrow! It should be fun. ^_^

Plans for June and July

  • Kids' Birthday Party
  • Potty train Ethan ... I'm really not looking forward to that. *sigh*
  • Family visit to S.F. ... We haven't been down to S.F. to see family since Chinese New Years back in January!
  • Finish the next part of One Small Step ... It hasn't been updated in ... eep! ... over 8 months! It will be finished by the end of July or I'm going to die trying!

Cosplay Plans for this Summer

  • Hyuga Hinata (from Naruto), concept sketch dress aka "date" dress from Shippu! Konoha Gakuen Den
  • Roberta (from Black Lagoon) for Sac-Anime at the end of August

Hinata Concept Sketch from the Naruto Artbook:

Hinata from Konoha Gakuen:

I've seen a lot of Hinata cosplay, but I've never seen this version! Besides, the dress is very pretty! I really want to make that dress!

Roberta Reference Pictures

Roberta from Black Lagoon, chapter 2, page 28:

Haha.  This one is actually a request from my husband.  He really likes Black Lagoon - and he introduced me to the series.  Black Lagoon is a bit darker than the manga/anime that I typically prefer.  (There's a lot of guns, explosions, shooting, guns, smoking, swearing, guns, drinking, brawling, killing, guns... and have I mentioned guns?  ^_^:  Right.  This is definitely not a show for little kids.)  However, this series has grown on me.

Roberta is an ex-assassin-turned-housemaid.  She's very tough.  When the young master of her household gets kidnapped, she comes out of "retirement" to get him back.  She hides grenades in her skirt.  Her umbrella is a shotgun.  And her suitcase is a sub-machine gun!  O.o

You know... There's just something very sexy about combat maids!  I think it's the dichotomy between the sweet, demure maid and the deadly killer.  The contradiction is very attractive...  ....  Or am I just a weirdo?  ^_^;;

Hubby is helping me make her shotgun umbrella!
