Friendly rice balls. I know they aren't the most artistic things in the world, but my five year old loves them and I had fun making them.
I don't have any actual rice ball molds, but after digging in the kitchen drawers, I found my Tupperware ice cream sandwich molds. (I think they worked great)
I put a scoop of rice in squished it down with a spoon, then right in the center I put a teaspoon of leftover spaghetti sauce from last night (you need to realize the spaghetti sauce I make is not the slightest bit runny. It has more of a sloppy joe texture) then I put another scoop of rice on top and squished it all together. When I took them out of the mold I had a solid cake of rice that you just pick up and eat with your hands. Then I painted them with food coloring to encourage my little guy to try them. (he's been a little picker than normal lately and is resistant to trying new things) As soon as he saw the smile faces, he WANTED to eat one. He loved it and scarfed it down, and he didn't miss a single grain of rice. LOL! :-D
