After two hours of tai chi, I went and ran a mile and a half. Used one of those heart rate things so I could stay up to an age-appropriate training zone. It took me eight minutes to do the mile-- Not a bad time given how out of shape I am (and the fact that in high school, I never got under a ten minute mile). I might have done better if I'd had been better hydrated; I started to feel thirsty after the first ten minutes or so, but I didn't have a water bottle.
I want to start training to run. Work up my cardio-endurance, and do some strength training to support the muscles one needs to use when running.
I'd love to work up to a marathon (or maybe just a half-marathon-- 26.7 miles is a long way!). I love the feeling of running, I just do it poorly. Given my circumstances, I could chalk it up to medical reasons, but I really hate hiding behind that excuse. My doctors told me I can do whatever I feel I'm able to do.
I'm sick of being all out of breath and exhausted from running across campus.
Time to fix that.
If anyone wants to join me *coughBethcoughSamcoughLizcoughLarissacough* in doing some exercise, I'd welcome the company.
*goes to drink some water* Have a good night!
work out?
