Confessions of a Sexist.

When I see a girl in a tight shirt walking toward me, and there are words on her shirt, I try to read them. Then I realise that I'm looking at her chest, get embarrassed, and stare at the ground. I don't do look away for men in similarly-sized shirts-- I usually just say, "hey, I'm trying to read your shirt ( Read more... )

I'm working, and I think getting better at, calling women my age "women" instead of "girls." But the thing I'm the most ashamed about is the fact that I almost always look first to my dad or stepdad when I need advice about something important. My father told me directly that he doesn't consider my stepmother his intellectual equal (and I'm sure he thinks the same of my mother), and this way of thinking has been pretty ingrained in me since I was little. And I hate that I catch myself thinking that my mother is naive and foolish.

I'm probably one of the most misogynistic feminists out there. All about women's rights, but I hate hos and ignorant bitches.

*Correct*

Probably just misanthropy is general.

It's not sexist if you treat EVERYONE bad EQUALLY.

Problem is, no matter how hard you try, you're always going to offend someone. In general, I call females "ladies" and males "gentlemen" regardless of their ages. I'm sure someone SOMEWHERE is offended by this. I don't care. I do my best, but I'm not going to kick myself over who I may have offended in the course of my day ( ... )

We're only products of our upbringing... and we were brought up in a sexist society so it takes a while to weed that stuff out, if we ever truly do...

yeah, my neighbor couldn't fix something today and i was like "want me to get my brother?" and then she got it and was like "see we don't need a man for that?" and i dropped my head and walked away :(

I dunno. I am thirty fucking years old and I still think of myself much more as a "girl" than a "woman." But I also refer to most of my male friends as "boys" or "dudes."

As for looking at people. I do it. Usually unapologetically. And if I have words on my T-shirt, or even an interesting image, I'm not going to assume someone's staring at my breasts when they are reading my shirt.

Gender is so complicated.
