My life is just great. The day I went to turn my residenct status change application in to the college, I discovered that the last day to turn it in had been a week ago. When I read "last day of academic term," I assumed that meant the last day of classes, as in the final day of exams.
But what they meant was "last day of classes" as in the week before exams.
I submitted it anyway, with a note pleading for them to consider it, and that I had just been confused about the meaning of the phrase.
Today I got a packet in the mail. First, a letter from the provost office saying, "we are prohibited from reviewing your application," with a quote of applicable state law that says "no change may be granted for an academic term that has ended before the date of the petition for reclassification." Then, a copy of the academic calendar with the words, "last day of classes" highlighted. Then my original application, with the words "last day of classes for the academic term" highlighted, and then a copy of a pamphlet called "frequently asked questions, with the line "last day of classes" highlighted, and the appropriate section marked with a flag-it.
A little overkill, I think. But, whatevs.
They also sent back my original application, but *kept* all my supporting materials(?). I dunno why they would do that, but maybe they're being kept on file, and I won't have to resubmit them?
There was also a stickie note that said, "please let me know if you would like us to considr your record for a subsequent semester (Summer, Fall 09).
*sigh*
