Reluctant

Oct 27, 2008 09:05

The ticking clock-
my hand against
your chest,
a heart beat.
Blankets block
the light, the
urgency of time.
We can pretend.

Your eyes flutter,
arms curl 'round
my shoulders.
A sigh folds in
to dreaming.
When did morning come?

I hold you for
the lifetime between
a sleepy sigh
and a loving smile.
Now to start
the day,
reluctant.
