So yeah... today, Paula left after third hour because she had a migraine, so I got another 1/2 day of sub-pay. It was awful though, because we're MEAP (Michigan Educational Assessment Program) testing, so they were all hyped up in the post-test jitters. I ended up having to give them homework! Homework during MEAPs! But really, it was their fault. Oh well, at least I got paid.
Though, I've still yet to see a paycheck for subbing, but I guess they must mail them or something.
Speaking of that, the mail didn't run today. No new mail in the box, and my outgoing mail never left the box. How odd, eh?
Of course, it's my car payment, and really important that it go out, and it's the one day it doesn't get picked up. *sigh*
I spoke to Jean Lawless today about student teaching. I'll be moving into her classroom in a few weeks. She's having me teach a unit on Mythology. She said she'll gather some info for me, and then we can sit down and look it over. I'm interested in seeing what she wants to do, and she reassured me that she's going to be easing me into the class, so that I don't have to jump in running. I hope that goes well.
I just found out that I work Saturday, from 12-6. Shoot. I mean, I need the money, but also, I wanted to do this thing on Saturday called the Writing Marathon. It's a thing the Upper Peninsula Writing Project does, where you have to go to various places in the UP and use the locations to spur your writing... then you conference about your writing, at a giant community party thing, where all the UPWP teachers get together and drink hot cider and share and be all awesome (I REALLLLY wanted to). But... I can't ask for Saturday off. I just asked for last Friday-Sunday off, on short notice, and I really can't keep doing that. I'll lose my job, and then I'd be in a pickle.
So... no writing marathon for me *sad face*
But yeah, at least I have some money.
