Here's the discussion post for this year's Christmas special! If it's just as good as last year's special, I'm sure there will be lots of great Shawn/Gus moments. ;)
Squee about the new episode as much as you like. :)

I'm pretty sure she was never mentioned, which make things seem weirder. With Shawn's mom, we knew of her existance since the beginning, but not even ONCE did we hear about Gus having a sister. This bothers me canonically since Gus really seemed to care about her, so you think he would've said something in a past episode. Plus, how the heck can the writers explain how she wasn't at the Gusters' during the last Christmas special?
Yes, Henry definitely needed more scenes than what he got. I didn't like how the writers practically kicked him aside during this year's special. But I guess the only way they thought they could pimp out Joy was by giving all of the other characters less scenes in order to give more to her.
And I actually wasn't bothered by the iPhone plug. To me, I thought it was more like a pop culture reference since they were so popular this year. It reminded me of how the Nintendo Wii was featured in the last Christmas special since that was (and still is) in high demand. Also, it might've been Psych's way to show off upcoming merchandise. Last year they showed off Psych golfballs, and a few months later, the NBC Store started selling them. So maybe they're going to start selling iPhone cases, so the writers thought it would've made more sense to feature the iPhone along with the case.
...and I really didn't mean to make this comment so long and ranty. Sorry about that! ^^;

But yeah, after last year's special, I knew I couldn't remember a sister. They did explain last night that she travels a lot, but if they didn't even *mention* her, then it's just a retcon, and an odd one at that. Couldn't a cousin have sufficed?
And yes, Shawn fic with him being torn would be delicious. :)
I think the phone plug bothered me because it was during the little episode cap, and took away from what could have been more of a Shawn and Henry moment. And maybe it was just because there was *so* much product placement this summer. *shrug* Maybe I'm just jealous I don't have an iphone and can't get the case...

Yeah, the product placement throughout the summer was brutal, especially the Red Robin one since it made no sense because Shawn didn't even know what they were at one point. And I can understand that. It's one thing to have product placement in the middle of the episode somewhere, but to cram it in at the end just doesn't seem right.

Red Robin made me angry. And there was the Dunkin Donuts one. But yeah, at least in an ep it doesn't seem so out of place, if it's part of the show. Maybe they'll cut this kinda stuff out for the rest of the season, and get back on the Shawn and Gus Are Gay For Each Other bandwagon. Yay!
