It has been over a year since I posted here, apparently. Where did the time go? I had an amazing year last year. I turned 40 and had a great party with lots of wonderful friends. I wnet to Thailand for two weeks to visit my dad and stepmom, petted tigers, rode an elephant, and got to see another country. It was an amazing trip. I went to California with John and we did the whole tourist thing with my sister's house as base camp. We went to Seaworld and I got soaked on the roller coaster, Disneyland and did the new Star Tours which is absolutely amazing, Universal Studios with the King Kong 3D which was only slightly less amazing than the Star Tours, Hollywood Boulevard and the tar pits, went to a coast beach in between Newport and Laguna for Fourth of July and saw some of the best fireworks ever, visited three air museums, and took my dog to the beach (she travelled with us, we drove there and back) and discovered that while she is generally unimpressed with the tiny little beach on Lake Washington at the dog park, she really loved the ocean.
I am working hard to make this year as good as last year. Starting out a little weak on that front. I need more work, I need more clients for cleaning and more customers for my small business. I am still fighting the chronic cough I have had for over three years now, and still fighting my doctor to get referrals I need to have the specialists help me figure it all out. I am still battling my weight. But I am starting the new year with as much of a positive attitude as I can.
I love the holidays. Thanksgiving was great. We went to my cousin Wendie's and the feast she laid on was one of the best I have ever had. I got the chance to talk with my 14 year old cousin Gentry for over an hour, and got to visit with my aunt. I really enjoy my family. I got my outside Christmas lights up yesterday, since it wasn't raining. I will do some decorating inside here over the next couple of weeks, but I'm not going all out because noone comes over here for the holidays, I always go there. My house is just too small to have the family over here. So I decorate mainly for me. I've got most of my shopping done, and can probably take care of the rest of it all easily online or one quick trip to a mall. I get to enjoy the season, skip the crowds and fighting for parking and all that shopping mess. The holidays aren't supposed to be about shopping your brains out until you are in debt on your credit cards for the next six months, or getting/giving the latest gadget. The holidays are supposed to be about family and friends, about peace and happiness, and for me about remembering my faith.
Ah, well, off to bed. I got in late last night from Gwen's birthday bash and got up too early this morning. Time for catching up on some sleep.
