Apart from the forum I mentioned in an earlier post, here are some more lectures/events that will be on at Macquarie Uni and UTS:

MQ Vice-Chancellor's Inaugural Annual Lecture
From its ancient origins right up to the last century, it was taken for granted that the purpose of education was to build character. Moral education was considered necessary to rein in such evils as "unrestrained greed". But have modern universities abandoned their moral and character-building aims? Has higher education become a values-free zone?

Professor Steven Schwartz will examine these and related issues in his inaugural Annual Oration to be held at the University on August 26.

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by author and journalist Jeff McMullen. The panel will feature media commentator Miranda Devine, historian and a former vice-chancellor, Emeritus Professor Deryck Schreuder, and the Headmaster of The King's School,
Dr Tim Hawkes.

When: August 26, beginning 6pm.
Where: MQ Uni, Building C10A (U@MQ Building) Floor 3
