Iroh is wandering around the farm with his ever-present cup of tea. While his movements may look random and unplanned, he actually is looking for someone(s) in particular, but he is in no hurry.

There is a pretty good chance that he'll happen across just about anyone.

There are someones sitting behind the bunker, taking a time out from farmwork to play with Penge and Thing and - well, not Dino, because it has been decided that Loo and Mom are not allowed anywhere near Dino. Dino is being tightly hugged by Hana as she watches Penge and Thing fight it to the death in the hands of Mel and Loo.

None of them think approaching Iroh is enough of a threat to look up for.

Approaching Iroh is grinning broadly in a most unthreatening manner. "I do hope I'm not interrupting anything direly important," he says, eying the fight.

Mel raises one finger to stay him, just long enough for Penge to valiantly beat down Thing, and Loo squeals in delight and victory.

"Only an epic life-and-death struggle. Afternoon."

"Ah, if that is all then I don't feel so bad for interrupting." He tilts his head, examining the girls, "Do you mind if I join you?"

"Go ahead," Mel says, shifting herself arouns so there's space for him in the Fray family circle.

"Their uncle's out of townat the moment, so they only have me for company."

She's just not ready for Steph or Erin to have sole babysitting duties right now.

"Have they set anything on fire recently?" he asks kindly. He may sound casual, but the question is serious.

"Some grass," Mel admits, sounding rather sheepish.

"Tickle games are only funny if Loo's the one tickling, apparently."

"How old are they, precisely?" Iroh asks as he smiles down at them.

Mel's eyes widen a little with the same old panic she always gets when asked that question.

"We didn't have a calander in Apocalyptica or Eden. Year and a half?"

"That's about right," he says almost to himself, still watching them consideringly.

"You going to tell me what you're thinking, or carry on looking at my girls like they're a case study?"

"Normally at this stage of development they would be regularly taken to watch an experienced firebender practicing. They're still too young to be taught, but they're old enough to watch and begin to understand." He strokes his beard, "Much like they learn to walk by watching those around them walk."

"And by standing up and falling flat on their faces," Mel points out.

"...oh, right. OK. Guess we can arrange that."

If she sounds doubtful, it's because she doubts the little girl calling excitedly off in search of a shiny pebble, Dino in hand, would really pay much attention to a firebending demonstration.

Iroh smiles at her tone, "Fire is a dangerous thing, but it also has a tendency to be fascinating."

"Guess so," Mel says, and smirks suddenly. "Certainly entertained me."

- yes, she's being dirty about your nephew.

If only he knew, Iroh would be appropriately appreciative. Still, he picks up on the vibe.

"It's true," he says knowingly, "There is a certain... mesmerizing quality about it."
