Charlie; Meet the Farm

Mar 10, 2008 13:26

Oh, jeez that ground is rushing toward them fast. Charlie lands awkwardly, even if her ride sets down relatively easy, and lets do only to end up on her behind again. She'll stay that way for a couple minutes too, trying to take in the scene before her ( Read more... )

There is a New Human.

This requires investigation.

From a distance. So it's mostly sniffing investigation.

"pika..."

Okay...

That's definitely not a normal animal by any stretch of the imagination.

(Charlie has an extremely good one, too.)

"... Hi ..."

No nets, not attacking. SO FAR SO GOOD!

"Pikapi..." It ambles a bit closer. "Pika?"

No attacking on this end!

Not unless she thinks the creature will harm her.

What? "Pika?"

"Pikachu pi pikapika?" It looks at her expectantly. Silly human, don't you know Etiquette?

Obviously not. She was partially raised by secret agents, please excuse her.

"... I have no idea what you're saying."

Sigh. Oh well.

It points at itself with one paw. "Pikachu."

It points at her with the same paw. "Pikapika?"

Aha! A sign of intelligence.

Which would be worrisome under any other circumstances.

Oh.

"Charlie."

Name, rank and serial number, baby.

"Pikapi," it replies, nodding. "Pi pi pi, chupika pika?" It points from her to the farmgrounds. This... probably translates to something like "Are you new here?" although it could possibly also be "Would you mind if we buried you alive?"

Such is a hazard in speaking with a small yellow creature.

Well, the answer to the first one would be, "I'm new here," and is actually responded to by accident. But if he was asking about the second one, Charlie's reaction would, hypothetically, be backing right out of the yard and running.

Small, yellow sadists are not cool, man.

It nods with satisfaction. Possibly not a sadist.

Well, she is new and it is less new. That means that it is now a Senior Member here, and she is its Junior. Time to be helpful and authoritative!

"Pikapikachu," it informs her, hopping toward the barn. It pauses to look back and motion for her to follow. Just to make sure; this human is A Little Slow, after all.

Hopefully not a sadist. The jury is still out on that one. Also, the narration starts wondering how a pikachu would handle being set on fire for blatant sarcasm.

It should be noted that she is following after the small, yellow thing now.

Fire attacks are not supereffective against Electric types. However, they hurt, and it would not appreciate that. Especially because it is taking time out from Important Things such as wandering around and chewing on grass and occasionally rolling in wildflowers to help her out!

There is a barn house. And a door. It motions helpfully toward the door. Humans use these things, so she presumably knows what to do with it. Right?

"Pikapi."

[The management would like to apologize for confusion between "barn" and "house." The management swears it does, in fact, know English.]

Charlie does, in fact, appreciate the help. As little as it is, because of language barriers and helpful things getting lost in translation.

Which leaves the teenager to stare at, and study, the house in front of her. Presumably, there might be people inside who can help, or at least point her in the direction of a motel. Or, there could be giant mutant cannibals just waiting to rend her limb from limb.

Perhaps she has watched way too much post-apocalyptic Hollywood movies.

"Thank you," Charlie offers, and heads up to knock on the front door.

"Pikachu," it replies, smiling. As much as a yellow creature can smile, anyway.

And it hops off to go back to its Busy Day. Though it takes enough time to turn back and wave at her.
