how the world did its weeping)

Dream-Steph is sad, 'cos Sokka drove away. She brightens to see Inty, though, grin taking over her face.

Inty finds herself even more rainbowy, brighter and sparklier than in real life, and the Sokka-in-a-car who's driving away is a little shorter than he really is, a little handsomer, practically glowing. Dream-Steph, on the other hand, is taller and blockier tonight than real-Steph, with the figure of a muscular teenage boy and blunt, hard features, roughly calloused hands, bulky shoulders.

(How much of this subconscious representation is the direct result of discovering that Sokkas apparently like soft, pretty girls who don't fight coughClairecough remains to be seen.)

(Lots.)

The road they're jogging down today is smooth and comfortable, but the city surrounding them is sharp and jagged and rocky.

Inty doesn't do a whole lot of jogging.

This is interesting.

But more importantly: cuddles.

Did you think you couldn't cuddle while jogging?

You were wrong.

Tricky but possible.

Handholding is involved.

Steph beams over at her. Dream-Steph and real-Steph both love smiling.

"I think they liked the pizza," she says hopefully. "I liked it."

"So did I."

It was delightful!

"He's going to come back, you know."

Not a certainty, but the next best thing.

And let's all be grateful that a particular piece of information hasn't found its way into Inty's consciousness just yet.

Steph beams, relaxing into the rhythm of running. "Oh good. And he'll be safe?"

Yes, yes yes.

"I see no danger."

Which isn't the same as seeing safety, but.

"Sokka can take care of himself."

Steph nods, tilting her head back into the wind.

"But do you think he will?"

"Doesn't he usually?"

A moment's pause, then: "All right, I see your point. I can't tell the future, you know. Sometimes I can't even tell the possibilities."

"I know," Steph says, squeezing the hand she's still holding. Buildings float and disappear around them, wavering between a dark, gargoyle-tastic gothic skyline and something brighter and wider.

"You don't have to answer. I just ... worry. He doesn't know how special he is."

It's possible awake-Steph doesn't know it either, but dream-Steph knows it.

"He'll figure it out eventually."

And that's a friend's reassurance, not a concept's.

"When you do, perhaps."

Steph grins. "I just want him to find out before he forgets to look after himself, really.

"...if you see him, tell him hi from me?"

"I will."

Hey look, Inty's not running anymore. When did that happen?

Answer: HUG TIME, of course.

Cuddlecuddle.

Hugs is awesome. There's no abrupt transition from running to hugging, they're just hugging, and Steph's smiling into Inty's shoulder.

"I always have better dreams when you turn up."

"I know," Inty says comfortably.

"I'm glad of it."

You'll never prove anything.
