Not having ever paid much attention to formal schooling and having no thought of ever moving on to college, Angelo's technical knowledge is limited - and, at the same time, utterly useful. For instance, he knows the basics of car maintenance, including hot-wiring and the removal of certain parts, including the stereo ( Read more... )

It has been a long, long, long, long, long time since Steph heard that sort of music. She's drawn like a mayfly.

So before too long, there's a teenage once-superhero leaning on the wall by the back door, smirking a little at the grey guy with the music in an utterly pleased sort of way.

She'd say hi, but he probably wouldn't hear her anyway over the music. She's just gonna lounge and listen until he notices.

It is really awesome music, too. Drifting in and out of English and Spanish, it's obviously dance music, and Angelo's fingers are tapping in the dirt as much as they're drawing. If Inanna were around, this would be a great opportunity to woo her with some dancing.

Eventually, he does notice a lady around - just not the one he was thinking of. Angelo looks up and gives Steph a moment's glance - but since she seems to be enjoying the music, all she gets is a slight grin and a nod of greeting.

Seems to be all that's necessary. Steph makes herself comfortable against the wall, sitting quietly and leaning back to enjoy the music.

Maybe she can borrow the CD later. Teach Sokka to dance. That'd be ... kind of hilarious, actually, and super fun.

She'll come over and chat once the CD's over, probably.

It takes a while - Angelo's just started it all over again. It's a band he isn't familiar with but that doesn't mean anything considering a lot of the people around here aren't from 1995 like he is.

Once it finishes for the second time, Angelo glances to his music-listening-partner and picks the boom box up, offering it to her.

She shakes her head, grinning. "Nah, it's cool. I haven't heard real music for ages, though. You've gotta be from an Earth, right?"

Steph's home 'verse has green people and white people and giant moth-turning-into-killer-beast monsters. Grey is practically normal.

Which is pretty cool. He's met a few jerks so far but the ladies tend to be awesome on the farm.

Angelo grins and nods, setting the player down again and turning the CD on to begin all over again, though he lowers the volume first. "Los Angeles, originally. Massachusetts's where I was before this, though."

"Cool." She grins. "I'm from Gotham, although we've been all over the place a bit since."

"Yeah? What year?"

It's not as weird a question as it should be anymore.

Steph gives him the year, which is in the early twenty-first century, and laughs for how commonplace that question has become. "It should be totally weird that we have to ask that, but hell, I met a guy who thinks he's Will Scarlett the other day."

Angelo's brows lift and he grins at her. "I'm guessin' I should be stunned by that, right?"

"I dunno," Steph says, honestly, amused. "I mean, it's no weirder than me being here, or you, or Sokka. It's just -- Will Scarlett, man. Weird!"

"Maybe I should be more specific," Angelo says after a moment, smirking. "Who th'hell's Will Scarlett?"

"Oh, right." Steph laughs, more at herself than at him, slightly embarrassed by just assuming. "One of my Earth's myth heroes -- one of Robin Hood's men. From, like, the year five hundred or something."

Angelo just looks amused at that, nodding. He knows the basic story of Robin Hood but the details were never really shared. "You'll hafta forgive me," he says, still smirking. "Growin' up in el Barrio, legends about a buncha white people with weapons weren't real popular."

"Can't imagine why that'd be," Steph notes, laughing. "Sorry."

"The LAPD made sure we had plenty'a stories jus' like it, though," Angelo assures her, grinning now, and he waves a hand. "Es nada, don't worry about it."
