The hilltop above Gotham is quiet.

Jim sits a little away from Marie and Erin, watching the mist-wrapped city and frowning. He feels so much better up here, away from the -- whatever it is -- but he's still not sure he entirely understands what's going on.

When the car bursts free of the mist, veering slightly interestingly up the hill towards them ( Read more... )

Erin is already on her feet and watching the car carefully. "About rutting time they got back."

Mel has hoisted Steph out of the low slung guncabin now so that she can enjoy quality time with the girls while pretending to be interested in what Steph and Sokka are talking about.

The first thing she does is to use Hana's hand to point. "Hey, they're still there."

Steph is suppressing a yawn, laughing into the intercom, turning to flash Sokka a grin. (Mostly they're just mocking his driving skills.)

"'Course they are. We're too pretty to abandon."

Jim nods at Erin, stepping back and leaving the flying car plenty of space to land.

He doesn't really seem to have anything to say; although he's looking a lot healthier now than three hours ago, now that he's out of the city.

"How'd everything turn out?" Erin asked looking more at ease.

Marie is silent but pleased.

Not having to dash in and teleport a collection of people out of a city stricken by some nameless plague is just dandy in her book.

"Unless they were invisible for you guys, too," Sokka points out, still sitting in the driver's seat, grinning a little. He's a lot more relaxed himself now that he's out of the city.

"...invisible monsters?" Gordon echoes, shocked.

This explains everything.

Mel smirks and hoists Hana up in the crick of her elbow while tickling her lightly.

If makes her giggle, burp, and smoke gently, and it makes Loo scream in protest.

Erin looks at her sister with a weird look. "Invisible? Flamethrowers? Are you-"

...

"Did I just see smoke come out of your daughter?"

"Not to me," says Mel. "Kinda. When am I not? And - yeah. We can have that conversation when we get to Kansas."

Erin rubbed her forehead. "Yeah. I imagine there's a lot to catch up on."

Mel grins cheerfully at Erin before turning to Marie. "Canyou manage the car?"
