Clark has been blissfully ignoring the pool. As far as he's concerned, it doesn't exist.

A baby kraken, however, is decidedly more difficult to ignore.

"Uh..."

Yeah, that's all he's got.

Can Spots eat him? Om nom nom foot?

Spots can try, if it would like to break its ... teeth biting apparatus on Clark's skin. Once it gets through the workboot, of course.

He stares down at it. "How did you get here, anyway?"

His daddies brought him here!

...Spots doesn’t have any teeth yet. He’s too little. (And drowned sailors are much easier to ingest than live human people, even normal ones.) So Clark’s foot gets gummed on a bit, and then he gives up, and slumps, and cuddles Clark’s ankle.

“daddy?”

Yep, more staring.

"Uh, no. Really no."

Spots tries to eat Clark's foot again, and gives up again.

"...mama?"

"You're a little farther off with that one," Clark manages after a moment of yet more staring.

"...your mama isn't really here, is she?" Baby krakens are one thing. Adults are something else entirely.

Spots shakes his head, and makes a few bubbling sobbing noises.

"Maaaama. Mamamamaaaa." Sob sob. CUDDLE.

No mama. That's something in the right direction.

Cuddling, however, is not. "Um, wouldn't you be happier in the water?" At least he's accepting it exists now.

Spots cuddles tighter! Om nom nom. If Clark was any less indestructible he would have sucker marks.

Spots likes cuddling.

"Mamamama," he whimpers pitifully.

Ew.

It's at this point that Clark crouches down and tries - gently mind - to pry krakenbaby off him.

"If you're not happy here, I can take you to the ocean. Maybe your mama's there."

Spots wants to cuddle! He hangs limply from Clark's hands, blinking big tear-filled eyes up at him.

"...Daddy."

Clark isn't the cuddliest person around, invulnerability aside.

"Your daddy might be there, too."

...he can't believe he's having a conversation with a kraken.

No, Daddy's HERE! Spots reaches towards the house with about half of his innumerable tentacles.

"Daddy daddy!"

When you're mostly made of tentacles, everyone's cuddly.

"There aren't any of your kind in there."

You'll have to forgive Clark for not jumping to the conclusion that one of the residents might be Spots' "daddy."

"DADDY!" Spots insists, and bursts into tears. Did Daddy go away? Waaaaah!
