She's just finished beating the crap out a stupid head.
More than necessary too because her hunt this morning was canceled.
She'll be over there, wiping her hands on her jeans, emerging from said alley.

He'd been too busy grinning to make whatever face Dean was talking about anyway. And now Sam leans against the wall outside the door, waiting.
Jo emerging from the alley while he's alone, now that makes him make a face.
"Jo."

Why the hell was he here instead of his little Mecca of Winchester women?
"Yeah?"
She's scowling.
And maybe the fact she didn't say fucktard at the end doesn't matter with the tone she's got already.

"Um... hi. Dean's just..." he gestures vaguely at the building behind him. "We were looking for you."
Reply
"For?"
And where the fuck was Dean if he was here with him?
Why would he leave his crazy brother out here alone where he could wreak havoc?

He fidgets for a moment. All they've faced down, all they've done, and he can't look a short blonde woman in the eye.
...of course, she's the only woman he's ever-- yeah.
"Jo?" His voice is quiet, smaller than he meant it to be. "I'm two years too late and a sorry sack of shit for doing it now but... I'm sorry."
He doesn't think he'll need to clarify what for.

Jo's lips pressed firm. Hadn't already covered this?
As the only really positive interaction before the insanity won out?
She crossed her arms not even being polite enough to step closer.
"How's your miracle wife?"
(She actually does feel a wave of regret for that one.
Jess had been cool at last check.
Sam really hadn't.)

He makes another face - lip curling disgust.
"It was September, 2008 when I left my world. I showed up here in Austria a month ago. That-- thing you met before, that isn't me."

Awkward.
If it was true.
Jo's giving him a not subtle, very wary, look over without moving closer.
Reply
"I don't know how to prove it to you."

Not that the answer would solidify anything.
She actually needed to find Dean herself, now.

"You thought he was supposed to be dead?"

He's sorry, truly sorry for what happened. But that doesn't make Jo any more trustworthy than a hunter he worked with only once.

She's not liking this.
Not at all.
She digs in her back pocket.
Then she's holding out a flask.
Old habits die hard for good reason.

"From what I hear, not being like 'the other one' can only be an improvement," Sam replies, reaching for the flask. He twists off the cap and sniffs it before taking a swig.
Without choking horrendously, he hands it back to Jo.
