"Well, holy shit." The sentiment is understated, but there's a slight emphasis to convey that this is, to the speaker, an unusual circumstance.
Some sort of flying guy (who's not dead) and a girl walking around looking like some crazy version of Robin Hood. In New York of the Walking Murderplants.
"They don't come down hoof!" She jostles against a railing, glaring at a large, meaty mass of mottled grey waddling through the space next to her. Then sighs.
"They don't come down here. Too dark." Even with the (somewhat intact) fluorescent lighting.
"I'm not a ninja, I'm a superhero. We're more obvious, and aren't assassins."
Kate tilted her head, wondering a little about that, and then shook her head, "No, first time I've ever seen it. Nathan was telling me that it showed up recently?"
"Whatever you wanna call it, you're not the only one here. I think I'm the only useless one here, other'n that little brat."
She slips onto a turnstile to sit. "I guess. I was making a run one day, and there it was. I don't think I wanna risk going inside, anyway. I at least have maps for the tunnels here."
"Well, compared to... coupla wizards, this guy with grazy armor, the ninja woman... and that lizard thing. I mean, they go against the plants and live. Me, I just run and hide."
Kicking a leg idly, she adds, "This place is pretty decent. Especially with the power. And running water. Only thing down here that anyone needs to worry about is the third rail. We don't know what's in the castle."

Raised eyebrow at her, "Yeah?"

She shrugged, "I'm used to being prepared."

It'd sound crazy, only...
"Listen, let's leave off until we get underground, okay?" She nods toward the nearest subway station.

"Yeah. Nice for us that aren't ninja warriors or whatever."
She heads past the turnstiles, occasionally walking around a figure in empty space.
"You don't know anything about that castle, do you?"

Kate considered, "Yeah, but it looks like it would be a safe place to stay. Structure seemed sound, and probably hold up to even a major siege."

Kate considered, "Nobody's tried to get in and scout it out?"

Clearing her throat awkwardly, she adds, "I'm Jessica."
