Kate shrugged, "Well, it's been some centuries since there were knights where I come from. Used to live in a city very like this, only more people, less monsters. Except on really bad days. That's usually once a month."
"Its safe, not trying to trick you or anything. Cross my heart and hope to die, my Mum made it and she's the best baker in Kelburn. Taniwha are guardians and protectors, also big, scary monsters if you make 'em mad. I try not to do that or at least have one of my brothers or uncle with me if I do or Carly, she can take on anything and usually does. No one bosses her around."
"...it's not an apple muffin or anything is it? You better not be working with any snow or ice queen. And they sound like the creature I shattered to get my sword."
