The man who enters the entrance hall after Laura is large, his muscles not hidden underneath his long black robes. Personal grooming has never entered his mental vocabulary: his greyish-brown hair is matted, his pointed teeth are stained yellow as are his long nails.
Fenrir Greyback thought he smelled someone...young.
The corners of his amber eyes crinkle in a smile. "I always loved the ceiling," he comments, with the raspy voice of someone not used to speaking.
"I don't have one," she informs him. "You live here?" She does not think he looks like he would, but there's all sorts of stories about princes/paupers and royalty in disguise.
"Dearie me, how awful," rumbles the man who most obviously doesn't think that a lack of mother is awful.
"I lived here once upon a time. Recently revisited." And saw the death of one of the wizarding world's greatest fighters for the side of good. He smiles at the memory.
"Or I did...back where I come from. It was quite a shock to find Hogwarts...wherever here is."
Knowledgeable about Muggle geography, Fenrir is not.
"New York," she supplies helpfully. "Were you a prince or something? Did an evil witch curse you?"
Normally, she would not be asking this. But, after guy with animal powers, strange creatures, and general weirdness, she's quite willing to accept that a fairy tale prince would be here and cursed.
"Laura and Mudkip," Fenrir repeats, gaze flicking first to one, then the other (and lingering on the first one). "You can call me Mr. Greyback, Laura."
Her expression turns smug as the dig hits home. "Yeah, right. I bet you're making it up. If it's really a magic school, show me some magic." She crosses her arms and gives him a challenging smile.
Fenrir snorts in amusement. From his sleeve he produces his wand - long, of a dark brown wood - and points it, after a moment's deliberation, at Mudkip.
"Levicorpus."
Mudkip should finds itself dangling from what passes for one of its ankles now.
"Magic," he says, tone shading to puzzlement. "You've never seen it before?" How can a Muggle see Hogwarts? Has being transported to New York dispelled the magical protections?

"What are you supposed to be, some kinda bum?"
She hopes! Bums are neat!
Mudkip is not as excited. He is cowering back by Laura's legs and watching the creepy newcomer.

"Didn't your mother teach manners?" He doesn't sound like he minds one bit, though.

He can afford to be patient. Get to know the girl a little.

The smile returns when he talks about the castle. "It's Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where young witches and wizards learn to do magic.
"I suppose they have a different school in America, that's why you haven't heard of Hogwarts."

To Mudkip, she adds, "Don't be such a baby!"
