A shadow passes overhead. It's a rather large shadow.

Which quickly proves itself to a rather large dragon as Nhim spirals downwards to land not too far away. "Oliver!" she calls cheerfully as she heads over.

Oliver can't Control the hawk from flying away from that giant shadow, and doesn't bother to try.

His face brightens into the largest smile he's given in some time as he waves up at Nhim.

"Sky-watching?" she guesses as she stops a few feet away, craning her head upwards to peer at the sky. "I haven't seen any signs of storms, if that's what you're looking for."

"I was testing my Discipline on a hawk," Oliver replies, nodding in the direction the hawk flew off in. It's already beyond Oliver's meager long-distance vision.

"And quite glad of the interruption, I might add," he says cheerfully.

Nhim's jaws gape a bit in a smile. "Has it been that dull here? I'm afraid I don't have much of interest to report, aside from the fact that I've found good hunting lately."

"Somewhat," Oliver replies.

"Oh? Of what kind?"

"Deer-a little small, I'm afraid, but three or so make a good meal. I'm just glad to know there are herds about-it's easier to hunt them that way."

"It was quite lucky that you caught them in the open - I imagine it would be quite difficult hunting were there a forest nearby."

"The trick is to attempt to herd them. Usually roaring, spitting, and circling work well enough-sometimes spitting alone is enough to bring one or two down, though you have to wait to eat those."

"Rather messy, I would think," Oliver comments of acid-soaked deer.

Then again, Oliver knows there's few pretty ways to kill.

"To a degree. It depends on how much acid hit, really. Having enough of it hit one directly will burn straight through and kill them rather quickly. The main problem there is waste-biting them doesn't waste meat, although it can be harder to do. Deer are quite quick."

"At least it would be rather easy of you to deter scavengers," Oliver muses.

"They don't dare come close, usually. The few that have-well, I'm not fond of the taste of wild dog, but I won't turn down an extra meal."

"I've heard predators have very bitter meat."

Nhim shrugs a bit, opting to lay down. "But a meal is a meal, and if I can get my hunting done in an easier way...well, I won't complain very much."

"I presume you must have had larger prey in your world to support creatures of your size?"
