House.

Inna hospital.

Sitting in the lobby, grumping at the doors.

They're glass, the better to see out at the happy cheerful farm residents doing happy cheerful things.

Click, click. There were footsteps walking on the hospital tiles behind House. Female ones.

Oh look it's that redhead agent again.

Great.

"What the Hell are you doing in my hospital?"

And how did you get in without his noticing?

His hospital? What?

"I'm sorry, must have missed your personalized name plate on the building outside," she dryly replied.

"I'm the one who asked to have it brought in. I'm the one who lives here." Grudgingly: "Along with my secretary, 95."

"I would have asked if I was here sooner, and I've met 95. I came to offer my services as a knowledgeable doctor."

"Great. I need a team."

Because, you know, obviously House is going to be the boss here.

"Exactly my point. Right now, I think we're the only two people around with sufficient medical training."

She actually wouldn't mind ceding to his authority, used to rankings in the FBI. Plus, he's stayed in medicine longer than her, and would have more hands on experience.

Plus, he headed the diagnostics department at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, and his ability to be a bastard to his subordinates is nothing to his ability to be a bastard to his employers.

"Whoopee. You're hired. Figuratively speaking."

She's dealt with Kersh, Skinner, and a lot of others equally harsh. It won't be anything new. And she figured it wouldn't be a problem. This was just a formality.

"Good, thank you. I'll just head back to the lab then."

She then added, "A Mel might be stopping back. Her daughter Loo was experiencing a temperature of 96.3 degrees, and congestion. A simple cold, but she mentioned that her daughters apparently have the ability to breathe fire, and normally have a considerably higher body temperature. Told her to check back in two days if symptoms don't improve."

"Firebreathing babies. Got it. Tell 95 so she can do the paperwork. Or do it yourself."

He might hate that stuff like the plague, but by God is it ever useful.

She was used to writing reports on cases for the Assistant Directors all the time.

"I'll have the preliminary report finished after I complete the bloodwork."

"I like you already."

A statement of questionable truth value, but at least he has a smile on that mostly isn't fake. Mocking, yes. Fake, no.

Rueful smile back, "Well that makes one of us. For now." She then went to head back to the lab.
