The theme of Bridgette's tenth birthday is 'Disney Princess meets crazy artist'.

The Cooper farm has balloons out front. Inside the living room are streamers made of colourful paper. Bridgette's drawings are tacked up along the walls - which includes everything from unicorns and rainbows to red and pink lumps being gnawed on by black birds and

"Thanks! I think I'm really gonna like being ten," Bridgette confides. "Did you like being ten? What'd you do on your tenth birthday party? Was it as awesome as this one?"

"Nowhere near as awesome as this," Claire says. "But I did have a horse. I loved horses when I was your age."

"I love them too! The Godsworn guy let me borrow his - it's outside, if you want to ride him. Tell Mr. Wycliffe you can ride as many times as you like, I said so."

"How's your dog doing? Can I give him some cake?"

"Sure," Claire says. "Not too much, but a little can't hurt."

Her mother used to feed him cakes all the time.

"I had a dog once," Bridge tells Claire. "He was old." Though this means, in Bridgette speak 'he died', she doesn't sound at all torn up about it.

Bridgette nods solemnly, then sets out a small plate for Mr. Muggles, whistling hopefully.

Mr. Muggles doesn't need much more. He runs up, but then sniffs curiously at the cake, apparently not sure if it's edible.

"He'll eat it out of your hand," Claire says.

"What was your dog's name?"

"Angus," Bridgette replies fondly, putting the cake in her hand for Mr. Muggles to eat. "He was a stray. A Bouvier des Flandres," she says that with perfect pronunciation - Mommy read the name out to her. "Much bigger than this little guy."

Mr. Muggles is gratefuly for this, and licks it completely off Bridgette's fingers.

"Well, any dog's bigger than this mutt, right, Mr. Muggles?" Claire jokes.

"I think chihuahuas are smaller. Or maybe they just look smaller 'cuz he's so poofy."

Bridgette will attempt to pet Mr. Muggles now that he's in range.

Mr Muggles accepts the petting tolerantly. He likes the attention more than anything else. But he will keep trying to lick Bridgette's fingers and face, if she gets too close.

"Heis a very poofy dog," Claire agrees. "But you're right, Chihuahuas are smaller."
